Located on the shores of Loch Melfort on the West Coast of Scotland, Ardenstur Estate offers comfortable stone built cottages set in an idyllic location. A dog walker’s dream, our accommodation is set in 150 acres of natural woodland, coastline, headland and bays. Choose between stunning hill walks with spectacular views or gentle meanders along cobbled beaches. Here wildlife thrives; many different types of birds, red and roe deer, otters and seals are often seen by our visitors.

Tucked away in the surrounding hills, there are several fresh water lochs including Loch An Coire. This is a private loch on the estate which is available for our angling guests as is sea fishing on the shoreline of Loch Melfort. Here is your opportunity to relax and enjoy the natural landscape of Ardenstur Estate.

Situated sixteen miles south of Oban, we have 7 self catering cottages which provide accommodation ranging from 1 to 10 visitors. All are south facing and have views across Loch Melfort. All have an open fire or wood burning stove to supplement the electric heating, making them ideal for cosy winter nights after a day exploring the breathtaking scenery and numerous walks and trails around the estate.

Ardenstur House is the largest property and sleeps up to ten people. The house includes a family bedroom with 4 beds, a downstairs double bedroom with wash basin, shower room, laundry and an open plan lounge/diner. There is a well equipped kitchen with a range of excellent appliances, 2 upstairs bedrooms and a bathroom.

Ardenstur Croft sleeps six and offers an open plan lounge/ diner/kitchen, bathroom and 3 bedrooms, one of which is a downstairs en suite double.

Top Ardenstur also sleeps six, with a ground floor double bedroom and shower room, an open plan lounge/ diner/kitchen and two upstairs bedrooms and a bathroom.

Shore Cottage, sleeping six, is located yards from Loch Melfort’s high tide. Shore has 3 bedrooms, a bathroom, a shower room, a laundry room, kitchen, dining room and lounge with open fire.

Ardenstur 1, 2, & 3 are the original one up, one down cottages, offering comfortable and cosy accommodation for couples looking for a quiet retreat in peaceful surroundings.

All of the cottages have FreeSat TV and most have Wi-Fi internet access or a hotspot.

Loch Melfort is one of the series of many sea lochs along the western seaboard of Scotland. It has safe sailing waters with direct access to the Firth of Lorn, which itself leads into the coaster and ferry ports of Oban, Fort William, Tobermory etc. Loch Melfort and its seaward approaches have many inlets awaiting exploration. The area is within easy motoring or sailing distance of many well known Scottish historical and scenic places. Visits are suggested to Oban, Iona, Mull, Crinan canal, Fort William, The Trossachs, Glen Coe. The islands of Colonsay and Tiree and Coll are easy trips by the islands steamer from OBAN.
