The Hit or Miss Inn

Penn Street, Amersham, Buckinghamshire

Details

The Hit or Miss Inn is a charming, traditional 'olde worlde' English pub situated in the beautiful Chiltern village of Penn Street, near Amersham, Buckinghamshire. The unusual name is a cricketing term, inspired by the pubs own cricketing team who would play just opposite on Sunday afternoons.

Dating back to the 1700's, the pub is full of character and the old building is smothered with wisteria with all original features such as natural parquet flooring, large inglenook open fireplaces, leather sofas and original low ceiling beams, as well as the garden overlooking the cricket pitch, it really does match everyone's image of the traditional old English country pub.

As well as the building itself, there is another reason to visit The Hit or Miss; our fabulous food is served daily and we have been working hard over the past 12 years to produce high quality, great tasting food and breaking the mould from the traditional ‘pub grub’ menus to create elegant and alluring dishes to suit every palate.

We welcome well behaved dogs on leads both in our garden and on the hard floor areas inside the pub there is also free Wi-Fi available, however, due to the nature of the building and the very thick walls; we do have a few black spots so be warned - you may have to put down the phone for an hour or two and relax with a traditional real ale instead!
