Torr House Cottages

Blisland, Bodmin, Cornwall
Sleeps: 1 to 6

Details

Torr House and the holiday cottages are delightfully situated being only minutes away from the village green and the western edge of Bodmin Moor with some of the most beautiful and rugged scenery anywhere.

Appletree:

Appletree, the smaller of the two, is suitable for up to four people. It’s cosy, compact and very comfortable and has the most wonderful views from the lounge and kitchen. From here you can marvel at the early morning mists creeping through the valley and gaze across to St Austell in the south and Wadebridge in the north.

The holiday cottage has two bedrooms - one double and one twin, a lounge area with twin sofas and a very well equipped and convenient kitchen/dining area which seats four. There is a lovely bathroom & WC with hand basin (and shaver point), heated towel rail, bath and shower over.

Appletree is accessed by the original granite steps from the barn and has wonderful views of open farmland and the Moor from the entrance as well as over the garden.

Appletree is popular with returners and new guests alike. It is cosy and comfortable all year round and you'll be captivated by the views.

We're sure you'll love it and want to come back!

Hollyhock:

Hollyhock is exceptionally spacious and is fully accessible for wheelchair users being all on one level with no steps.

There is a large and comfortable lounge with twin three seater sofas and a well equipped kitchen/dining area seating 6 with views across the gardens and rear door opening onto the patio.

The main bedroom has a double bed and a full en suite incorporating WC, hand basin with shaver point, heated towel rail and power shower. There are two other bedrooms (both with twin beds) and a large, spacious bathroom with WC, hand basin with shaver point, heated towel rail and bath with a shower overhead.

Hollyhock is great for larger families or groups of friends. But it's just as suitable for couples or smaller groups wanting the space to relax and unwind without getting in each other's way.

The self catering holiday cottages are situated next to the farmhouse and share over two acres of landscaped gardens with plenty of room for relaxing at the end of the day. There’s a discreet play area for children with swings and climbing frame. Badminton and croquet are also available. Each cottage has its own private patio, sun-loungers, BBQ and use of a patio heater. In fact, everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday!

Blisland is unique in being the only village in Cornwall with a village green! The village itself has so much to offer and both the Pub and the Church (which, incidentally was a favourite of John Betjeman) attract people from far and wide. The lanes and banks around Blisland are a mass of wildflowers in the Spring and the numerous footpaths through wooded valleys, farmland and moor are a delight all year round. This is a paradise for those who like walking holidays.

One of our great advantages is that we are equidistant between north and south coasts! In other words, you can be in either Fowey or Padstow in less than half an hour! Those who know Cornwall will already be aware of the endless choice of fantastic sandy beaches and coastal paths all along the north coast. These are stunning beaches - the equal of anywhere in the world - and they’re almost on our doorstep! Surfing beaches can be found at Polzeath (the nearest), Trevone, Harlyn, Constantine, Treyarnon and, most famously of all, Watergate Bay - as well as Fistral and others in the Newquay area. In between these are just as many other safe, sandy beaches, including Daymer Bay - ideal for younger children because of it’s gently shelving beach.

The Bodmin & Wenford Railway is only five miles away and is extremely popular with children (and steam train enthusiasts!). Also local is Colliford Lake Park. Newquay (about half an hour away) has the excellent blue reef aquarium as well as Newquay Zoo.

Just outside the town is Dairyland Farmworld and Lappa Valley Steam Railway and both are very popular with younger children. Also, close by is Crealy Adventure Park - as good as any adventure park in the country!

There are so many other attractions and it’s impossible to mention them all but the National Maritime Museum at Falmouth is a great addition and just has to be included in our list - you can even get there by boat!
