Broadgate is a traditional Georgian guest house, built in 1819 with stunning views across the Duddon Estuary, located in Millom, Cumbria.

The fine proportions and subtle beauty of the guest house and gardens compliment the idyllic rural setting wonderfully well. On entering, the visual feast continues as a series of sumptuously decorated reception rooms radiate from the light and airy hall. A Baroque drawing room features a magnificent and imposing black marble fireplace and offers majestic easterly views across rolling Lakeland fells.

Upstairs, the spacious B&B bedrooms are each unique. We can offer two double bedrooms and one single. Decorated with antique furniture, vibrant fabrics, period wall coverings and retaining the original fireplaces they offer our guests a wonderful space in which to relax in comfort at the end of the day.

All our bathrooms are separate from the bedrooms and have been designed to meet the requirements of modern living while retaining the traditions of the past. Free standing baths and throne loos give a nod to bygone times and ensure the magic of Broadgate continues in to even the “smallest” room in the house.

As bathrooms in the bed and breakfast are shared it is our policy to ensure that the sharing is between guests who are members of the same party. We do not expect guests from different parties to share bathroom facilities and will not take on reservations which would require this, preferring to leave bedrooms unlet rather than compromise the comfort of our guests.

The grounds at the B&B comprise a series of 'garden rooms' including, a large and well stocked walled garden, a croquet lawn and a series of terraces. Each area of the garden has its own exquisite views which come together to form a wonderful and unique Lakeland panorama; from sea to mountain in one great swoop. There is a two acre garden and ample off street parking.

Broadgate makes the perfect base for touring the Western Lake District by foot, bicycle or car, taking in the pleasures of this beautiful area without the crowds. Sporting types can choose from a number of lovely golf courses, ride the renowned Cumbrian heavy horses along the beach and through the fells, enjoy the beach at Silecroft and the watersports at Coniston among many other activities. You can also visit The Stone Circle and there are lots of beautiful walks and scenery to enjoy.
