Multi award winning family run hotel, situated in the peaceful village of Grange-over-Sands in the Cartmel Peninsula.

When bought by Mr & Mrs Read in 1969 as a 5 bedroomed guesthouse, creature comforts were somewhat limited. There was no central heating, of course no en suite facilities, just one shared bathroom for the guests’ use and electric bar heaters for warmth in the bedrooms at a cost of a shilling in the slot. Such luxury!!!! Behind the scenes a traditional scullery and kitchen complete with creel and coke fired Aga, two bedroom living accommodation and four darling little children all eager to help!

Carefully updated over the years, the now 18 bedroomed hotel still retains the elegance and tranquillity of a bygone era.

Clare House offers a feeling of ‘country house’ hospitality, ensuring that all their guests receive the very best in personal service. The food, which is acclaimed throughout the region, is one of the many reasons why guests return time and time again, meeting old friends and renewing their love of the breathtaking scenery in this idyllic corner of the Lakes.

All 18 bedrooms have private facilities are centrally heated, have tea & coffee making facilities, 26inch LCD TV and direct dial telephones, all but 4 rooms enjoy views over the garden & Morecambe bay.

We have 9 rooms with balconies, including 4 twin bedded ground floor rooms. We have 6 superior (larger) rooms, namely, 2 twin ground floor, 2 single first floor and one twin first floor, all with bay views, and one twin first floor on the side of the house, not having a bay view.

Two large lounges with open fires, plenty of comfortable seating and views over the garden & bay, a perfect place to relax after a busy day.

With uninterrupted views over Morecambe Bay and beautiful gardens to peruse, you’ll find the perfect place to relax, dine and unwind.

Open to non residents throughout the day, starting with brunch and morning coffees, heading into light lunch, indulging in afternoon tea or for those who can wait, dinner.

Breakfast is served from 8:30am-9:30am and Dinner between 6:30pm-7:30pm. In between, we serve Brunch daily from 10:00am-12:00 noon, Morning coffee and Afternoon tea 10:00am- 4:30pm, light lunches Monday to Saturday from 12:30pm-2:30pm and a 2 or 3 course lunch on Sunday at 1pm.

We are fully licensed.

We regret no dogs are allowed in the hotel, except guide dogs.

We have ample off road parking, Grange is also well served by rail, should you wish to leave your car at home.
