Elmscott Youth Hostel offers comfortable and relaxing accommodation in a beautifully renovated Victorian school in Elmscott. We are nestled on the Hartland Heritage Coast and enjoy glorious views of Lundy Island. Our hostel is perfect for exploring Devon, with the coastal footpath just a few minutes away.

Escott is in the top 10 of YHA accredited hostels, making us perfect for families, school parties and parties. Exclusive hire of the whole house is also possible.

We have a range of tastefully furnished rooms available, all of which include bunk beds. The School House has 3 rooms which sleep 6, 4 and 2 people. In winter a 3-person room is also available. The School Room has 4 rooms, two sleep 6 people and two sleep 4 people. All the rooms come with a washbasin and bed linen.

The well-equipped kitchen is great for cooking some home-cooked meals and includes a cooker, fridges, microwave ovens and toasters. Pots, pans, cutlery and tea towels are provided too. Enjoy some tasty food in the new kitchen/diner which seats 24 people and offers stunning views over Lundy Island. You can relax and unwind in the cosy lounge after a day in the countryside. The wood burner will keep you toasty and books, puzzles and a TV are available.

Outside there is a pretty walled garden with a picnic table and chairs. A gorgeous spot for a morning coffee whilst admiring views across Lundy Island.

Other facilities onsite include a drying room, BBQ, cot and high chair, coin-operated pay telephone, cycle shed, outside toilet and use of a washing machine (arranged with the Warden for a small charge).

The local area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Hartland Quay is renowned for its spectacular cliffs, Hartland Abbey and St. Nectan's Church, with its 39-metre-high tower. If you’re a bit peckish head to Docton Mill Garden which has a lovely tearoom. You can visit nearby Clovelly, with its charming, cobbled street pointing down to the sea. A golf course is within 15 miles.
