Nantcol offers self catering accommodation situated in the beautiful Snowdonia National Park just outside the charming Gwynedd village of Llanbedr. The house stands alone behind its stone wall enclosure in open moorland with breath taking views of the countryside all around. A herd of wild goats roam the hills and ravens and buzzards circle the mountains.

The front door opens into a lobby, with space for boots and coats and then a dining area with table, a large welsh dresser and fireplace. This opens out into the living room with ne open fire and one multi-fuel stove, plus cosy sofas clustered around low tables. A great place to retreat with a book or play games beside the fire. There is a music centre for tapes, CDs, radio and a TV for DVDs and we have many DVDs to choose from.

The rustic country kitchen has a large table that has been handling family breakfasts for more than 250 years. Cooking is either with the new electric AGA or a free standing electric oven. The well equipped kitchen includes a fridge/freezer, washing machine and a microwave oven.

Our house sleeps 7 in one double bedded room with a 5ft bed, one twin bedded room and a large 'hayloft' bedroom is ideal for kids with three single beds (plus a cot) and has its own stone outside staircase.

The bathroom, like the kitchen, is full of charm. The bath is generous with a roll top and perfect for soaking after a long walk. The house is surrounded by stone walls. The views are majestic with a tremendous sense of remoteness away from the busy world below.

The garden has tables and benches for eating outside in the summer. Breath taking countryside begins at the front gate with walks in all directions.

There is no central heating at Nantcol other than the kitchen AGA, so part of the adventure is lighting the two coal fires when you arrive. Each room has a backup of electric fires and electric blankets for all the beds. There is no broadband internet, mobile phone or TV reception at the house. However there is a landline telephone.

The coast is 5 miles away with good beaches in Cardigan Bay. Castles, steam railways and the famous gardens of Bodnant and Plas Newydd can be reached easily, as can Portmeirion.
