Dairy Cottage is located at Cowgrove Farm, Ropley and is a four-star self catering cottage located in the heart of the Hampshire countryside. Spoil yourself with the fine scenery, country walks and a wide range of local attractions.

Dairy Cottage sleeps 5 people and is located on a small working farm in a rural conservation area. It was converted into a holiday cottage in 1982 when we stopped milking cows. The farm continues to be run as a smallholding, where we make hay and silage to feed to the cattle during the winter months.

Central Heating on the ground floor, convection heaters on the first floor. Price includes all fuel, power, bed linen (duvets) and towels. Facilities include a cot, highchair, DVD player, radio/CD player, TV, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, combi microwave oven, electric oven and stove. Large courtyard/patio area with garden furniture. One pet welcome (small charge). Ample car parking.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms - the main room has a double and a single bed, with an en suite bathroom. There are two further single bedrooms (one is very small and has a 2’6” bed). Downstairs there is a spacious lounge and dining area, along with a well-equipped fitted kitchen and toilet/shower room.

Dairy Cottage is situated between the Cathedral city of Winchester and the market towns of Alton and Petersfield. Nearby is the pretty town of Alresford where the River Arle flows into a lake constructed to provide fishing as well as a reservoir for the River Itchen navigation. Here one can take a pleasant stroll along the river past the old Fulling Mill and watch the trout swimming nonchalantly about the river amongst the ducks and moorhens.

Ropley is a 20 min drive from the centre of Winchester and about 40mins from the New Forest and the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Here one can visit the Mary Rose, HMS Victory and HMS Warrior, the first iron-clad warship. Just a ten-minute drive from Ropley is Jane Austen's house in Chawton. The Watercress Line steam railway connects the towns of Alton and Alresford and stops at Ropley on the way through the picturesque countryside.

North of Ropley is Lasham airfield, home to the many gliders which can be seen gliding serenely above us. Gliding courses and trial membership are available. Many walks can be started from our gate - the countryside is crisscrossed with footpaths and bridle paths; riding tuition for all ages and abilities is available from stables nearby. A book of Ropley walks is kept in the cottage together with a wide selection of books and puzzles. Many other towns, villages, areas and attractions are within easy driving distance.
