Tigh na Boireach is a remote and romantic holiday cottage, ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat or an unforgettable honeymoon. This charming listed building, with its traditional exterior, conceals a warm and modern interior that combines comfort with style. Located just a few hundred metres behind the spectacular machair and beach at Clachan Sands, the cottage sits in a small, welcoming community surrounded by natural beauty.

Entering through the characterful low front door, two small steps lead into a welcoming entrance area. Here, the bedroom lies to the left, the bathroom is straight ahead and the kitchen and living space open up to the right. The fitted kitchen features a luxurious oak worktop that contrasts beautifully with pale cream units and sky-blue tiles, evoking the coastal surroundings. Fully equipped for your stay, it includes an electric oven with gas hob, built-in refrigerator with freezer box, Belfast sink, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, microwave and all necessary cookware, crockery and cutlery.

The living area is cosy and inviting, featuring a comfortable leather suite and a realistic electric log burner that adds warmth and ambiance. A foldaway table with two chairs provides a space for dining. Entertainment options include a TV with DVD player, Freesat satellite box, Bluetooth speaker and a collection of books and DVDs. Wi-Fi is available throughout the cottage, and binoculars are provided for wildlife spotting.

The bedroom is a luxurious sanctuary, boasting an elegant four-poster double bed with soft organza drapes. Matching pine furniture, including a wardrobe and dresser, offers ample storage and bed linen and towels are provided for your convenience. The bathroom is well-appointed with a high-pressure shower, toilet, sink, heated towel rail, wall heater, mirrored medicine cabinet and electric shaver point with light.

Tigh na Boireach is a picture-postcard example of traditional Scottish Blackhouse architecture, surrounded by a private garden designed for outdoor enjoyment. Guests have access to two parking spaces via a shared driveway. A shed with a traditional turf roof contains a washing machine and offers storage space for bikes, boots and wet clothing. A 6kW EV charger is also available for use (type 2 socket, charges apply). A standout feature of the garden is the “Herb boat,” offering a variety of fresh herbs for guests to pick. Behind it, a landscaped rock garden showcases Hebridean and alpine plants, complete with a stone seat for quiet reflection.

This cottage makes an excellent base for exploring the islands, with countless outdoor activities to enjoy. Walks of all levels are nearby, allowing you to engage with the unique Hebridean landscape. The pristine coastline offers some of the most stunning beaches in the region, with clear waters that are rich in wildlife. Corncrakes are often heard in the surrounding fields and eagles are frequently seen soaring overhead en route to the machair.

Tigh na Boireach holds a Category C listing with Historic Scotland, preserving its historical significance while offering all the comforts of a modern holiday home.
