Stenigar Flat & Cottage

Stromness, Orkney
Sleeps: 1 to 4

Details

Stenigar offers self catering accommodation ideally situated at the South End of Stromness on the West Mainland of Orkney. This side of the main island hosts the largest concentration of archaeological sites to be found anywhere in Britain.

We offer a number of options for those wishing to stay with us on a self catering basis:

Main House Apartments: There are 2 apartments joined to the main house. Both have 2 bedrooms, a double and twin. There are new fitted kitchens in each of these and shower/bathroom. The apartments have open plan kitchen and living areas, ample parking and beautiful views.

Detached 'Peedie Cottage': This is at the end of the garden and is a quaint one bedroomed stone cottage with 1 double bedroom, open plan kitchen living space and a toilet and shower room.

Well behaved dogs are accepted in all properties, (there is a small additional charge).

Stenigar was originally built around 1825 as a boat house. It was converted and redesigned in 1946 by the late Stanley Cursiter, painter, sculptor and director of the National Galleries of Scotland. The house still boasts the original 18th Century doors shipped from Kirknewton House in Edinburgh, along with the original staircase which was situated on the outside in its former life as a boathouse. Stenigar is located on the edge of Stromness, with panoramic views, the beach on 2 sides, the golf course behind the house and the heart of the town a few minutes’ walk away.
