All of the cottages have a wealth of exposed beams and stone features. (Our taller guests should take care in Jinney Ring, Stable and Kibble Mill).

For our young visitors we have a baby’s cot and high chair. Toys for indoor and outdoor play are available and babysitting can be arranged.

We provide – duvets, blankets, bed linen and all bathroom and kitchen towels (included in the tariff). There is a selection of books and games, as well as tourist information and maps of the local area in each cottage. All are equipped with an electric cooker, microwave and full-sized fridge. Additionally Jinney Ring has a dishwasher and fridge-freezer. All cottages have a television, radio-clock alarm and hairdryer. Kibble Mill Cottage is rather special and is furnished with ‘a hint of yesteryear’. It is part of the South Shropshire Vintage Trail.

All heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included in the cost of the holiday. Jinney Ring has a washing machine and laundry facilities are available on request for other cottages. Parking is close to the cottages and we can provide access to a landline phone if needed.

Mocktree Barns are an ideal base for exploring the delightful countryside of South Shropshire, Herefordshire and mid-Wales, one of the few ‘Tranquil Areas’ left in England. Working farmland is all around, with easy access for walking provided by a network of public footpaths.

Leintwardine village is on the banks of the River Teme. In the village there are two pubs with restaurants, an ale house and fish and chip shop. The post office, grocers, butcher, doctor’s surgery and the garage provide excellent local services. The church, chapel and picture framer also welcome visitors.

Whatever the season, there is plenty to do. There are great opportunities for walkers and nature-lovers, for anglers and bird watchers, for golfers and geologists. Public rights-of-way are there for you to walk through the woods and fields, explore the quiet valleys and lanes and climb to the top of the hills to marvel at the view. Nearby are Wenlock Edge, the Long Mynd, Clee Hill, the Teme Valley, Mortimer Forest and Offa’s Dyke Path. Border castles are in abundance – notably Stokesay, Clun, Powis and Ludlow – and there are several National Trust properties within a short drive. The village of Leintwardine, once a Roman settlement, is only two miles away with an annual coracle regatta.

There is much to discover in the nearby towns – Church Stretton, Bishop’s Castle, Much Wenlock, Tenbury Wells, Leominster, Knighton and, above all, Ludlow. (For John Betjeman this was England’s loveliest small town.) Antiques and crafts, teashops and bookshops abound and there are many attractive villages in the area, including those linked by the Black and White Trail, a drive though the Herefordshire cider country.
