Hartshanger offers fantastic self catering accommodation just above the village of Porlock in the heart of the Exmoor National Park. Surrounded by gorgeous countryside, we are a haven for nature lovers looking for somewhere special to stay.

The top floor of the main house and the coach house have been converted into beautiful self-catering accommodation. Lovely features include beams, sloping ceilings and patchwork quilts in the bedrooms. We share our wonderful home with Rufus, our small, friendly Jack Russell cross and the occasional deer and badger. We are set in the middle of about 5 acres with wonderful views over Porlock Bay towards Wales.

The accommodation at Hartshanger Holidays comprises of 2 self-catering flats known as High Hanger and Little Hanger. High Hanger sleeps 4 in 1 double and 1 twin room. There is a large bathroom, separate shower room and a separate WC. It has its own personal entrance. Little Hanger sleeps 6 in two doubles and one twin. One of the double rooms comes with en suite facilities and a bathroom with a walk-in shower.

High Hanger is a beautiful flat, the photographs do not do it justice. The sitting room or garden room as we call it is a favourite with visitors with its cane furniture and its great views out over the Bristol Channel towards Wales. The view from the roof is even better and is a great place for sunbathing away from prying eyes! The flat has exposed beams in almost every room (but not low enough to knock yourself out on!) and the double room has an unusual painted ceiling complete with black cat and doves.

Little Hanger is a first floor flat in the original coach house/stable block and is reached by its own flight of stone steps up to a stable door. Little Hanger is a warm, cosy flat with low beamed ceilings in the bedrooms. The lounge area has patio doors which open out onto a private bit of garden with a terrace, barbecue area and lawn. There is a wood burner and logs provided free of charge. It is only a short walk from here to the all-weather tennis court. There are some beautiful sunsets over the Bristol Channel and Wales and these can be enjoyed whilst sitting out on the terrace on a summers evening.

This is a peaceful place, with the only sounds being that of the surf on the beach below and the occasional call from a seagull, buzzard, cow or sheep. It is the ideal place for those wanting to get away from it all and relax or walk our beautiful Exmoor countryside. There is a hard tennis court on-site and sea and river fishing, horse riding, cycling and mountain biking nearby. Bring your own bikes as we have a secure store and washing down area. We are a short 5-minute walk to the pubs, restaurants and shops.
