Details

Tudor Cottage in Barton, Warwickshire, offers wonderful self catering accommodation in a beautiful riverside location. We are the perfect base from which to explore the local area as we are only 7 miles from Stratford upon Avon and 9 miles from the Cotswolds, ensuring you have the best holiday experience possible.

Our 17th Century beamed cottage is ideal for a spontaneous break away, especially those keen on fishing as we have excellent facilities available on site. A large private garden is at the front of the house, and a large garden, shared with our own adjacent property runs down to the River Avon, with seasonal fishing available from the river bank. The garden at the rear of the house leads down to the bank of the River Avon, where coarse fishing is available in season. A second, private garden, is at the front of the cottage, with table and chairs for outdoor meals and Barbeques. There is also garden furniture on the river bank, overlooking the river.

Tudor Cottage was built in Shakespeare’s time, and is one of the oldest houses in the hamlet. It is now a grade II listed building, and whilst the original timber beams and wattle and daub exterior retain the cottages character, the interior has been suitably modernised.

The cottage has modern oil fired central heating and hot water. There is a wide screen television in the large beamed lounge, and the kitchen/diner is equipped with modern facilities. There is also a hand basin, toilet, and shower room downstairs. Upstairs there are 2 large beamed bedrooms. The first is furnished with a double bed and the adjoining room has twin divan beds.

Parking for the cottage is on a private road adjoining the property. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate pets, and guests are requested to smoke in the garden only.

We are fortunate to be in such an ideal location. We are situated in the heart of Shakespeare country. The village is on the Heart of England way, with several riverside walks. The Royal Shakespeare Company perform at three theatres in Stratford - the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, and the Swan Theatre, and the Other Place all of which have a busy schedule of plays, not all of which are Shakespearean. Warwick Castle is a great day out for all of the family. Not only is there the Mediaeval castle to explore, but there are also the Birds of Prey, The Trebuchet, and a whole schedule of different events all year round. The NEC is only a 45min drive from Tudor Cottage, and plays host to numerous exhibitions and international artist concerts and performances.
