At the time we moved here I felt that I had to almost apologise for the fact that the Olive Tree is not situated in one of Cornwall's more developed holiday areas, but in peaceful, beautiful unspoilt countryside, just over the Devon, Cornwall border, so nicely accessible for a weekend away. We are situated on a country road, but not a small winding lane for those of you who hate tiny Cornish roads!
A few of years on, I feel that I would much prefer a holiday based exactly where we are situated and much of that is due to feedback we've had from guests. We are no more than 30 to 60 minutes drive from many major attractions in Cornwall, but if you enjoy beautiful river walks or dramatic moorland drives, history and mysticism, it's right here on the doorstep. The local villages and market towns are real places, not full of souvenir shops and so much more interesting for that!
