There has been an Inn at Fossebridge located on the banks of the River Coln, between Northleach and Cirencester, for more than 300 years.
All supplies would in those days have been transported around the country by horse drawn carriage. The Inn was established as a ‘watering hole’ and stopover because additional horses had to be attached to pull the carriages up the very steep hill on the other side.
It is thought that the Fireplace in the Bar was originally a forge for shoeing the horses.
