Rose & Crown Inn, Trent, Dorset

This picturesque rural Dorset gem dates back to the 14th century, when it was built to house the builders of the Saint Andrews church spire. It still maintains it rustic charm and hosts original features of a thatched roof, beams, large fire places and flagstone floors, an old-fashioned village local.

Now in the heart of the Ernest Cook Trust estate that surrounds Trent village which is steeped in interesting history. King Charles the 2nd hid at Trent Manor House during his escape to France. It was also the home of Colonel Francis Wyndham.

Built in 1790 as a coaching inn, the Travellers Rest is a traditional country pub with a friendly atmosphere. The pub is located in the village of East Pennard which is close to the Somerset town of Shepton Mallet.
