Details
If you're dreaming of a tranquil escape or an adventure-filled getaway in the heart of northeast Scotland, Hill of Maunderlea Lodges provides the ideal retreat. Perfectly positioned for discovering the diverse landscapes and attractions of Aberdeenshire, Moray and Speyside, these lodges offer year-round comfort and charm for every type of holiday. Set in fourteen acres of mature woodland on a small hill in historic Banffshire, the lodges provide luxury self-catering accommodation, the area is ideal for those hoping to catch a glimpse of the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, with clear, far-reaching views across the landscape.
Each of the four newly built lodges enjoys panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and coastline. They are positioned with privacy in mind, allowing guests to fully unwind. The site includes winding woodland paths and 'sit ooteries' - peaceful spots where you can sit and take in the scenery, watch for squirrels and enjoy the sounds of birdlife.
The lodges comfortably sleep up to six guests and are designed to a high standard. Underfloor heating powered by air source pumps keeps them warm and cosy year-round. The layout is spread over two storeys. The ground floor, which includes wheelchair access, features a king-size double bedroom, a spacious wet room with shower, and an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area. Upstairs, there is another double bedroom with a balcony, a twin room and a bathroom.
Each lodge includes modern appliances such as internet access, HDTV with Blu-ray, Freesat, fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, hob and oven, microwave and toaster, all chosen for their low energy usage. Cots and high chairs are also available on request.
The surrounding countryside is made up of gently rolling hills, market towns, woodlands, small lochs and rivers that lead to a dramatic coastline dotted with sandy beaches, cliffs and rocky coves. The area is rich in charm and character, with fishing villages like Portsoy and Pennan offering plenty to explore. Places to visit include:
