The Strontian Hotel
Details
The Strontian Hotel is a well-loved highland Inn known to generations of travellers and residents of the Ardnamurchan peninsula.
It offers a lounge for residents use and a breakfast room which overlooks the loch - used out of season as a dining room. Dogs are welcome, there is secure storage for bikes, and the hotel has plenty of parking.
All the bedrooms are ensuite with thoughtful extras like bottled water, hot drinks tray and aromatic toiletries, TV, hairdryer and wi-fi throughout. All enjoy loch or woodland views.
The Stuart Suite enjoys outstanding views of the loch and offers two adjoining rooms; one with a king-size bed and the other acting as a TV/sitting room, leading to the en-suite shower room.
The Grand Level Suite has self-catering facilities built-in although breakfast is included in the room price, offering a family bedroom, lounge, kitchen and bathroom.
The Bothy Bar – part of the hotel but a separate business - is open for bar and evening meals with an outside beer garden. Booking is recommended in advance where possible.
The hotel is an elegant Georgian property dating from 1820 and was formerly the managers house for the Strontian Mine. There’s a strong sense of history and heritage at the Strontian Hotel, where the rooms are named after local mines.
A prehistoric standing stone outside the hotel, known as the Branks stone or ‘Penance Stone’ not only offers a glimpse into past practices in the rural Highlands, but it also marks a stunning viewpoint at the head of Loch Sunart directly from the hotel.
