Halftown Cottages are two beautifully restored historical holiday homes located on the site of an ancient Highland village, set along the shores of Loch Fyne near Strachur, directly across from Inveraray in Argyll, Scotland. Situated on the scenic Cowal Peninsula, these cottages offer a peaceful retreat just six miles from the main A83 road, providing easy access from Glasgow.

McHugh Cottage - Sleeps 4

The cottage sleeps 4 and features two bedrooms, a double bedroom on the first floor and a twin room on the ground floor, along with a cosy sitting room with an open fire and television. The fully equipped kitchen includes a washing machine, dishwasher, electric cooker, microwave, fridge and freezer. There is a separate cloakroom with a toilet and wash basin downstairs and an upstairs bathroom with a bath and shower. Additional amenities include a hanging space, ironing board, vacuum cleaner, entrance porch and hallway. Duvets, bed linen and towels are provided. Electricity, water and heating are included, along with an initial supply of wood and coal. The cottage also offers private parking, a garden area, free WiFi and welcomes one small dog by arrangement.

Loudon Cottage - Sleeps 4

The cottage sleeps 4 and includes two bedrooms, a double bedroom on the first floor and a small twin bedroom on the ground floor. The bathroom features a toilet, washbasin and a bath with an overhead electric shower. The sitting room offers an open fire and television, while the kitchen is fully equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, electric cooker, microwave, fridge and freezer. Additional features include a cupboard with hanging space, an ironing board, a vacuum cleaner, an entrance porch and a hallway. Duvets, bed linen, and towels are provided. Electricity, water, and heating are included, along with an initial supply of wood and coal. The cottage also provides private parking, a garden area, free WiFi and welcomes one small dog by arrangement.

Visiting the Area

These secluded cottages are situated within 440 acres of heritage-status natural woodland, featuring oak, birch, willow, hazel, beech and rowan trees. Behind the cottages lies "Tom Na Sgeulachd" which blooms with bluebells in the spring. A small hill stream flows down to the loch below the cottages. The surrounding woodland is home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, including orchids such as the great butterfly and fragrant orchid, whorled caraway and mushrooms like chanterelles. The area also boasts a small waterfall, deer and a wide variety of birds, with red squirrels frequently visiting as it is a red squirrel conservation area.
