Details

This charming Coach House, dating back to the 19th century and listed as a grade II historic building, has been meticulously renovated and transformed into a 4-star self-catering cottage. Nestled in the picturesque West Town Conservation area of Backwell, near Bristol, it offers a delightful retreat.

The accommodation boasts a generously sized open-plan living and dining area, seamlessly merging with a well-appointed kitchen at one end. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern amenities, including an electric cooker, gas hob, microwave oven, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. An inviting feature is the fireplace with a cast iron "wood burner" (controlled by gas), set against a backdrop of solid oak flooring. Upstairs, two cosy bedrooms await. One is furnished with a double bed and an en-suite shower room (complete with WC and sink), while the other offers twin beds. Additionally, there's a separate family bathroom, also with WC and sink. The cottage is adorned with contemporary decor while preserving its original character, ensuring a comfortable and relaxed ambiance.

Notable landmarks in the vicinity include Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury Tor, Chew Valley lakes, Tyntesfield Court, and the stunning coastline along the Bristol Channel (including Portishead, Weston Super-Mare, and Clevedon). Beyond, Backwell's strategic location allows for excursions to South Wales, the Wye Valley, the Forest of Dean, and the Black Mountains to the west; Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds to the north; Longleat, Salisbury, and Stonehenge to the east; and Exmoor and the Devon coast to the south.

Backwell itself offers a wealth of local amenities, including a bakery, chemist, post office, a small supermarket (Spar), an off-licence, and newsagents. Satisfy your culinary cravings with two welcoming pubs, The George and The Rising Sun, both serving delicious food. For quick bites, there's a fish and chip shop in the village, along with local Chinese and Indian takeaways and a kebab/grill-house. Backwell also boasts a public swimming pool and squash courts, as well as a spacious park with children's play areas. Essential services like a dentist, doctor's surgery and three churches contribute to the village's well-equipped and welcoming atmosphere.
