Thrumster House Bed and Breakfast offers fabulous accommodation in Thurmster, nestled in a beautiful area of The Highlands. We are set in 20 acres of glorious gardens and woodland, ideal for an unforgettable holiday in Caithness.

Our grand Victorian property is a former laird’s house with an Iron Age Broch structure in the grounds, plus a delightful walled garden, a pretty pond and a lovely summerhouse. The house offers a charming, old-world atmosphere in peaceful and friendly surroundings.

There are two elegant B&B rooms available: one twin room with a bathroom and one double with an en suite shower. These are arranged around the gallery which surrounds the main hall. The double has glorious views of the grounds from the window. The twin enjoys lovely views of the grounds as well.

We provide a full-cooked breakfast. You can try our real Scottish porridge, fresh fruit, yoghurt and berries. The farm and garden supplies fresh quality food. We can supply dinner for an additional cost – please enquire for details.

You can unwind by the fireplace in the grand entrance hall, framed by a striking galleried landing. Take advantage of the scenic walks around the grounds and surrounding woodland.

If you are planning a stay at Thrumster to explore some of these why not take a day trip to Orkney on the foot ferry from John O'Groats and visit some of the principle monuments there on a guided bus tour. The crossing is quick and exhilarating, the birdlife is fabulous and you may bring back some beautiful Orkney knitwear, silver, jewellery or smoked salmon. There are several lochs where there is free fly-fishing for wild brown trout and Thurso and the north coasts are only a 35-minute drive from us.
