Heron Cottage offers fabulous self catering accommodation in Poughill. Our largest cottage is nestled within wonderful private grounds and has all-weather facilities to enjoy. The pretty seaside town of Bude is nearby and we are a brilliant base for exploring a range of attractions in Cornwall.

Our cottage sleeps up to 4 adults and 2 children and is furnished to the highest standards. A lovely open plan room comes with a large lounge, Shaker-style kitchen and dining area. Formerly part of the original stable buildings, the room comes with a high ceiling and enjoys an airy feel.

The kitchen is well-equipped and includes a cooker, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, cafetiere. The living area has excellent facilities: a large HD flat-screen TV with Freeview, DVD/Blu-ray player and CD/radio player.

On the same level are 3 bedrooms, one double with a king-size bed and two twin bedded rooms. Quality cotton bed linen and fluffy cottage hand and bath towels are provided in all the rooms. The master bedroom comes with en suite facilities and a separate family bathroom is also available.

The cottage overlooks the original stable courtyard and grass area outside where you will find a table, seating and gas BBQ. The perfect spot for a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the afternoon.

Facilities are available onsite for the whole family. We have a heated indoor pool and jacuzzi, spa treatments, heated outdoor pool (seasonal), gym and sauna. We also have activities for children, such as a games room and play areas. A variety of horse-riding experiences are available and we have a tennis court.

Savour some fantastic food from our in-cottage dining service, prepared by local chef Nicky Vereker, using fresh, local ingredients. Afterward, enjoy a leisurely drink and a game of snooker at our licensed bar.

The charming seaside town Bude is within walking distance of us. The town has something for everyone, including sandy beaches, Bude Sea Pool, Bude Castle and lots of fabulous restaurants. Within 30 minutes to an hour’s drive, you will find a brilliant range of wonderful historic houses to visit, including Prideaux Place, Pencarrow and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. The whole family can have a magical time at the Tamar Otter & Wildlife Centre, a lovely place that houses an amazing range of wildlife in its 21 acres of grounds.
