Mews Cottage

Stratton, Bude, Cornwall
Sleeps: 1 to 4

Details

Mews Cottage is a character cottage in the peaceful village of Stratton – a fascinating historic settlement on the outskirts of the popular seaside town of Bude.

With its award-winning sandy beaches, a fabulous variety of restaurants and cafes, and manifold leisure pursuits, Bude has something for everyone. The cottage is great for those who want a place to stay nearby that allows them to slip away from the bustle of the town and relax in quieter surroundings.

Offering excellent value (including concessions) and flexibility, with no set start day and short breaks all year round, the cottage sleeps 3 to 4 in 2 bedrooms, with a sofa-bed to make it up to 6 if necessary.

Best of all – dogs stay for FREE.

The south-facing cottage is one of five cottages in a small gated Mews set off the street and is ideal for couples, families and friends, or a peaceful retreat for one!

The cottage offers comfortable accommodation with an open-plan living room (including sofa-bed) on the ground floor and two bedrooms upstairs.

The living area downstairs has two sofas and an armchair with a smart TV at one end, and a dining table and chairs at the other. There is a well-equipped kitchen for self-catering and a washing machine and dishwasher.

A wooden slatted staircase leads up to the first floor where exposed wooden beams and window seats enhance the historic character of the cottage. The larger bedroom has a king-size bed and the smaller has a double bed. We’re told they are very comfortable! The bathroom – bath with shower over – is also upstairs.

There is a garden for the cottage at the end of the Mews.

Two historic pubs serving food – the Tree Inn and the King’s Arms – are a step away, as is the well-stocked Stratton Village Shop and Post Office.

For a half-hour morning or evening dog walk, you can’t beat a circular walk from the door taking in some of Stratton’s historic buildings, including the Grade 1 listed St Andrew’s Church and the Old Courthouse, as well as a short leafy stretch of the River Neet.

There are regular buses into Bude and bus routes to the pretty villages of the North Devon coast, such as Clovelly and Hartland, which Stratton gives easy access to, being ideally situated on the border between Cornwall and Devon.
