Cornish Tipi Holidays
Details
Awaken to the serene melodies of birdsong at Cornish Tipi Holidays, nestled in a secluded lake setting just a short distance from the North Cornwall coast. This tranquil haven is ideal for those yearning to break free from the daily hustle and embrace nature. Whether you fancy an early morning swim in crystal-clear waters, cooking breakfast over a campfire, or simply relaxing in the solitude of your own tipi, this retreat offers a pace and experience for every preference.
Cornish Tipi Holidays caters to a diverse range of guests, including couples seeking a romantic getaway, families enjoying the summer break and individuals passionate about outdoor activities like walking, surfing and kayaking. It's an enchanting spot for celebrations, reunions and nature lovers, proving to be a delightful escape for all ages, from infants to teens.
The site itself is a hidden gem, set within a woodland valley cradling a spring-fed lake, once an old quarry. Spread across a secret 20-acre land adorned with ferns, bluebells, oak and meadowsweet, the area has remained untouched by modern chemicals, offering a sanctuary for wildlife including dormice and a variety of birds.
Offering both privacy and a sense of community our camping pitches are available either in the communal meadow space or with more privacy in the woods. Our tipis are available in medium (for 2-3, if including a young child) and large sizes (sleeping up to 6). Choose between the communal Village Field for a neighbourly feel or opt for a Private Site for more secluded serenity. For larger gatherings, a double Private Site allows two tipis to be booked together.
Tipis come furnished with essentials such as custom-made groundsheets, warm Turkish rugs, and enchanting fairy lights. Remember, this is genuine camping, so bedding is yours to bring, along with any preferred sleeping comforts like airbeds or camping mattresses.
For those opting for Private Site tipis, expect added conveniences like camping mats, a camp stove and a cool box, along with kitchen essentials for a home-cooked meal under the stars. Our Village Field tipis provide a blank canvas for you to create your own cosy retreat.
Beyond tipi living, tent and campervan enthusiasts are welcome to enjoy our picturesque pitches, offering both communal and private settings. While campervans are invited, please note the absence of hard standings and utility hook-ups.
There is an onsite cafe called The Tipi Kitchen if you fancy a night off from cooking.
Also onsite is Tregildrans Quarry lake, for a real Swallows & Amazons experience, its waters shift from clear blue to vibrant greens in a moment. You can swim, bathe, fish for rainbow trout, take out the boats and canoes to row or simply mess about, or just sit quietly watching swallows and dragonflies skim across the surface. If you plan to fish, you’ll need to bring your own rods and licences, but life jackets are available if you don’t have your own. The lake is safely fenced off from the main path and secured with a gate fitted with a childproof catch, so little ones can’t wander in alone, though it’s important to remember there’s no lifeguard and children must be supervised at all times. You’re also welcome to bring your own kayak or Topper if you’d like to use them on the lake.
With breathtaking walks just outside your door and proximity to iconic locations like Tintagel Castle and Bodmin Moor, Cornish Tipi Holidays is your gateway to exploring Cornwall's majestic landscapes, charming pubs, and renowned eateries like the Seafood Restaurant in Padstow. Here, nature's embrace and a wealth of activities await your discovery.
