Dropped Anchor- View Camping

Breage, Helston, Cornwall

Details

Situated within an area renowned for its breathtaking natural splendour, Dropped Anchor invites you to revel in peace while soaking in unparalleled vistas of the captivating south Cornwall coast. Our off-grid campsite offers the allure of wild camping, complemented by the convenience of superb facilities.

Spanning approximately 1.5 acres, Dropped Anchor Campsite features 15 generously sized pitches and 5 smaller pitches encircling a central recreational area, each lovingly named after the flowers, trees and plants adorning our site. Accessible via a secluded no-through lane leading directly to the entrance gate, our campsite exudes a charming ambiance, adorned with rustic farm memorabilia.

The panoramic views of the sea and the peninsula unfold before you, presenting an ever-changing tableau of natural beauty. As the skies transform in color, so too does the sea and the landscape beyond, ensuring that each moment offers a unique spectacle.

Come nightfall, the vista transforms into a mesmerizing panorama, with the twinkling lights of Penzance, Newlyn

and Mousehole casting a magical glow against the backdrop of the Tater Du Lighthouse and the illuminated boats dotting the sea.

Surrounded by verdant fields and the quaint hamlet of Rinsey nearby, every camping pitch affords a picturesque vista, promising a truly enchanting retreat.

Dropped Anchor Campsite operates entirely off-grid, with no electricity on-site. Illumination is provided by solar-powered lighting, while guests can charge phones or small power packs using our solar panels for a nominal fee. Though we currently lack facilities for freezing ice packs, we are actively exploring solutions for the near future.

Thanks to our off-grid setup, light pollution is minimal, offering unobstructed views of the night sky, which can be truly breathtaking.

Each pitch boasts its own fire pit, crafted from either stone built into the ground or a repurposed iron pig trough, lending a distinctive charm. Logs and kindling are available for purchase on-site, allowing you to stoke the flames and indulge in the quintessential camping experience, complete with marshmallows for toasting.

What better way to unwind after a day of adventure than by relaxing with a glass of wine or hot chocolate, regaling tales of the day's escapades, and gazing up at the stars and the twinkling lights of passing boats, all while the distant lighthouse flashes its guiding beacon. It's a moment of pure perfection, waiting to be savoured.

We also have glamping available via a stay in Holly Caravan. She offers a delightful glamping experience, boasting her own secluded pitch on the campsite, complete with a breathtaking sea view, a charming picnic table and a personal fire pit stocked with a complimentary bag of logs and a kindling starter pack for your inaugural blaze. Accommodating 2 guests, Holly features a snug double bed, thoughtfully made up for your arrival, alongside a sitting area where you can relish meals and unwind in comfort. Equipped with a gas hob, fridge, heater and all necessary cooking utensils and crockery, Holly ensures a pleasurable stay. Solar-powered lights and two USB sockets cater to your lighting and phone charging needs, respectively. For added convenience, Holly boasts a compact washroom with a basin. Please note that while Holly provides these amenities, she shares toilet and shower facilities with the rest of the campsite, ensuring your comfort and convenience throughout your stay.
