Fougou Cottage
Details
Located on the picturesque south bank of the Helford River, immortalised in Daphne du Maurier’s novel "Frenchman’s Creek," lies the historic Trelowarren. This enchanting estate, which inspired tales of dashing smugglers, clandestine meetings in secluded coves and political intrigue, was fondly referred to by du Maurier as ‘a jewel’. Today, it invites you to experience a serene Cornish holiday amidst 1,000 acres of natural beauty and tranquility.
A stay at Trelowarren offers more than just a typical self-catering holiday; it provides an opportunity to unwind and reconnect.
Fogou Cottage, situated in the historic centre of the estate and dating back to the 16th century, retains its charming thatched roof while offering modern amenities. The cottage, named after the nearby unique underground monument, is a perfect blend of period charm and contemporary comfort.
Downstairs
The open-plan dining and sitting rooms create a welcoming space, complemented by a fully equipped kitchen. There is a separate children’s room with a TV and a convenient downstairs toilet. Heating is provided electrically, with an additional wood burner for cosy evenings. Entertainment options include a home entertainment system and a widescreen smart TV with a DVD player. Note that the download speed in Halliggye Hamlet ranges from 1.5mbps to 1.9mbps.
Upstairs
The cottage features three bedrooms. The master bedroom is en suite, while the other two share a separate bathroom. The twin beds can be converted into doubles if needed. The cottage boasts large, secure gardens on both the southeast and northwest sides.
