With five charming holiday cottages and two luxurious lodges available, Rivermead offers a tranquil retreat set within 17 acres of picturesque Cornish countryside. Guests can enjoy exploring the private stretch of the River Fowey, along with a lake, woodland and open meadows. Conveniently located halfway between Bodmin and Liskeard, the accommodation provides an ideal base for couples seeking a peaceful escape or families looking for a relaxing getaway. The Old Farmhouse - Sleeps 7
The Old Farmhouse features a well-equipped kitchen/diner, a cosy oak beamed sitting room with Freeview TV and wood burner. The ground floor has a bright king-size bedroom with a restored inglenook fireplace and an adjacent shower room, perfect for single-level convenience. Upstairs are two spacious bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, plus a family bathroom. A loft room with a single bed and trundle adds extra space, making this cottage a comfortable retreat for up to eight guests. There are charming outdoor spaces, including a sunny front seating area, BBQ and private courtyard.
Oaktree Cottage - Sleeps 2
Oaktree Cottage is on the first floor of a 300-year-old Cornish stone barn, with private parking, a porch for outdoor gear and its own lawn and picnic area with a table, parasol and BBQ. The cottage features a spacious living room with south-facing windows, a comfortable seating area, a dining space overlooking the Glynn Valley, a well-equipped kitchen and a light double bedroom with high-quality linens. The shower room includes a power shower, toilet and vanity unit, with towels provided. Enjoy BT Superfast broadband or unplug and savour the tranquil surroundings.
Kingfisher Cottage - Sleeps 2
Kingfisher Cottage is a spacious one-bedroom holiday home located on the first floor of a 300-year-old Cornish stone barn, this cosy cottage features a comfortable living/dining room, a double bedroom, kitchen and shower room, all on one level. It has its own private parking space, entrance and porch for storing coats, boots and bags. Outside, a lawned garden area with a picnic bench, parasol and BBQ provides the perfect spot to relax and enjoy summer evenings as the sun sets.
Bluebell Cottage - Sleeps 4
Bluebell Cottage offers mostly single-level accommodation, with just a step up to the lounge and kitchen. Outside, a sunny seating area is perfect for morning breakfasts, and parking is conveniently close. Inside, there’s space for coats, bags and shoes near the entrance. The light-filled sitting room features views of the lawn and boules court, two comfy sofas, a Freeview TV and a dining table for four. There is a well-equipped kitchen and two south-facing bedrooms: a master with a double bed, wardrobe and dressing table and a twin with a hanging rail and dressing table. The shower room includes a shower, toilet, vanity unit & towels.
Otter Lodge - Sleeps 6
Otter Lodge is set among the trees on a south-facing slope with stunning views of the River Fowey. This luxury open-plan lodge features a private patio, garden and river views. There is a well equipped kitchen/dining area with dining table which seats six. The lounge area includes Freeview TV and Superfast BT Broadband. The master bedroom overlooks the garden and river, offering a king-size bed, built-in wardrobe, en-suite shower room and elegant furnishings. A second king-size bedroom, also river-facing, includes a walk-in wardrobe and shares a family shower room with the twin room, which features a south-facing window and VELUX skylight. Both shower rooms have large showers, heated towel rails and modern amenities and all bedrooms include a hairdryer.
Owl Lodge - Sleeps 6
Owl Lodge is a luxurious, open-plan lodge on a south-facing hillside with stunning Glynn Valley views. Sleeping up to six, it features two king-size bedrooms, one en-suite, a twin room and a shared shower room, all with comfortable beds, ample storage and linens and towels. The spacious lounge has leather sofas, Freeview TV and BT Superfast broadband, while the well-equipped kitchen and dining area offer everything you need. Outside, enjoy a private patio with a BBQ, picnic table and balcony seating to relax and take in the sunsets, making it the perfect peaceful getaway.
Whilst our largest accommodation sleeps 8, we can welcome up to 32 guests if all of the properties are booked together.
Onsite Facilities
At Rivermead, we are fortunate to have half a mile of the crystal-clear River Fowey flowing through our woodland, offering one of the most peaceful fishing spots in Cornwall as it meanders to the estuary. Guests can also enjoy our outdoor fire pit, with wood provided or the option to forage for more, a fun activity, especially for children. For outdoor games, we have Jenga, boules, croquet, quoits, ball games, swings and even a rope swing, plus goalposts for practice or a round of hide-and-seek. Indoors, the Information Room is stocked with board games, books and puzzles to use during your stay. Wildlife enthusiasts can spot regular visitors like deer, ducks, herons, owls and finches, as well as elusive creatures such as foxes, badgers, woodpeckers, otters and buzzards, making every encounter special.
Visiting the Area
With so many incredible places to explore in and around Bodmin, you will have plenty of things to see and do. Within 30 minutes, you can visit Bodmin Moor, Looe, Lantic Bay, Fowey, Charlestown, Lanhydrock, or Polperro, while an hour’s drive takes you to Padstow, Port Isaac, Newquay, Constantine Bay, Mevagissey, St Mawes, Perranporth, or Plymouth. Just over an hour away are Penzance, St Ives and Marazion, home to the stunning St Michael’s Mount, with the option to extend your adventure by taking a trip to the Isles of Scilly by boat, plane, or helicopter.
