Ivy Cottage is a delightful 17th-century, two-bedroom hideaway close to the beach in the pretty village of Crantock, Cornwall. With its own attractive garden and patio, this characterful retreat blends historic charm with modern comfort, creating a cosy and welcoming base for exploring the South West. Originally built from local stone in the early 1600s and thoughtfully extended, the cottage now offers comfortable accommodation for up to five guests.

Inside, the open-plan sitting and dining room feels bright and spacious and leads into a galley-style kitchen fitted with units, an electric hob and fan oven, a fridge with a small freezer compartment and a good selection of utensils and crockery. The traditional main sitting room retains original features, including a Cornish slate inglenook fireplace with clome oven, beamed ceiling and stable door, giving the space plenty of historic charm.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with twin beds and an additional guest bed can be provided if needed. Bed linen and towels are supplied weekly and hot water and storage heating are included. The tiled bathroom has a modern shower cubicle with electric shower, a hand basin and toilet.

Outside, a secluded patio overlooks the lovely garden, which sits in an elevated position with open countryside views. The garden, with its small orchard and variety of shrubs, attracts plenty of birdlife. Access to the cottage is via steps at both the front and rear private entrances and guests have use of a parking space and lock-up garage.

Crantock is perfectly placed for exploring some of Cornwall’s most beautiful coastal scenery. The wide sandy stretch of Crantock Beach and the peaceful Gannel Estuary are ideal for walking, swimming and wildlife spotting, with dunes and tidal creeks to discover. Just a short drive away, Newquay offers famous surf beaches, coastal paths and family attractions, while the cathedral city of Truro provides shopping, history and culture. Along this stretch of coastline you’ll also find charming fishing villages, dramatic cliff-top walks and hidden coves, making it a great area for both relaxation and adventure.
