Details

Gulval Cottages offers self catering accommodation in the pretty village of Gulval close to Penzance in the fantastic county of Cornwall.

The two cottages, Chyandaunce and Chyancrowse offer superb holiday cottage accommodation. A high wall encloses a shared courtyard and garden with separate small patio areas for each house. The parking area for Chyandaunce lies between the two houses and there is off road parking for Chyancrowse nearby. The Cottages may be occupied separately or together. They are ideally placed for exploring the West Penwith Peninsula.

Chyandaunce was a 19th Century village house in which the present owner’s grandparents lived and from which they began farming. Over the years it has grown from being a “two up two down” cottage to a spacious modern house with PV panels and solar heating. It is now redesigned and refurbished and fully equipped for 8 people with a modern kitchen, dining room (with TV), and 3 double bedrooms. Two of the double bedrooms are upstairs, one with two additional bunk beds, and there is a twin room downstairs adjoining the downstairs’ bathroom. Upstairs is the large and comfortable lounge with a TV and DVD player. There is also a shower room and toilet on the top landing.

Chyancrowse was converted from the stables to a 2 person, one bedroom, bungalow in 1975. It has a lounge/diner with television/DVD player and comfortable chairs. There is a dining room table and chairs for 4 persons in case you have visitors. A large serving hatch links the lounge/diner to the fully equipped kitchen. It has an electric cooker, fridge and microwave. On the far side of the kitchen is the small double bedroom, with chest of drawers. There is shower room with toilet and two large cupboards, one next to the bedroom with hooks and hangers for your clothes.

The houses are ideally situated to enable you to explore the Land’s End peninsula with its beaches, coves, and coastal paths. The road through the village leads down to Mount’s Bay with its gentle beach stretching from Penzance to Marazion. You must walk to the Mount and visit its castle. Everywhere there are sites of artistic and archaeological interest - look up the fogou on Pendeen Manor Farm. Penzance with its facilities and restaurants is only 10 minutes away (less than a mile.). The village also has a good pub, the Coldstreamer. St. Ives is about 6 miles with its beaches, the Tate St. Ives Art Gallery and the Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden. It is just 20 minutes by car. Buses pass through Gulval village every hour to St. Ives and Penzance. Land’s End and the Lizard Peninsula are within easy reach and a day trip to the Eden Project is a favourite event.
