Cocks Close Holidays is a small development of a Farmhouse, 3 Scandinavian chalets and a converted Watermill, discreetly situated amidst 24 acres of secluded hill land in Garnett Bridge near Kendal in Cumbria.

The Farmhouse:

The accommodation is for up to 8 people, with 2 double bedrooms (one with en-suite bathroom) and 2 twin bedded bedrooms. The main sitting room has a 3 piece suite, colour TV(digital reception including freeview channels) and electric fire, an archway leads through to the dining room. there is a smaller living room - called the ´snug´ which has a fireplace and french windows leading onto the patio overlooking the river. The kitchen is fitted and fully equipped with dishwasher, fridge, electric cooker and hob, and microwave. There is a utility room which houses the freezer, washing machine and tumble drier.

The Chalets:

The Chalets are log cabins of Scandinavian design, highly insulated and doubled glazed, making them ideal for a cosy winter break. Built in 1986 they are attractively fitted with pine ceilings. All the furniture is of high quality, and there are fitted carpets throughout. Electricity is not included in the price but is by coin meter (£1 coins).

Borrowdale / Bannisdale - (sleep 4). These chalets have 2 bedrooms, 1 double bedroom and 1 room with twin beds.

Both lounges are tastefully furnished , and there is a fully equipped kitchenette. There is an electric fire and full-size colour TV with digital reception and access to freeview channels. Bed linen and tea towels are supplied, and a cot can be supplied on request.

Kentmere - (sleeps 6 or 5 + cot). Providing more spacious accommodation, this chalet has 3 bedrooms, 1 double bedroom with mirror wardrobe and 2 further rooms with twin beds in each. The lounge is spacious and well furnished and has a 3-piece suite, electric fire and colour TV.

All beds have duvets and electric blankets (extra blankets are available). Bed linen and tea towels are supplied - you need only bring personal towels. The bathrooms for all chalets have coloured suites with shower over bath, shaver point/electric wall heater and are part tiled.

Kitchen equipment includes saucepans and cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery and glasses for 6/8; sandwich toaster, toaster, electric kettle and hoover. Outside each chalet there is a space for parking, garden furniture and a barbecue for the warmer weather. Also on site is a washing machine, tumble drier and payphone.

The Watermill:

The apartments are carpeted, furnished and equipped to a high standard throughout. They are all-electric and heated by Off-Peak radiators. All windows are double glazed, making them an ideal base for all seasons.

The lounge with dining-end, has coal-effect electric fire, cottage suite, full size colour TV and dining table and chairs. All beds have duvets and electric blankets, bed linen and tea towels. The kitchens are well fitted with quality units, built under oven and hob with fitted cooker hood above, a fridge and microwave oven, and are well equipped. The part-tiles shower room has W.C. washbasin and electric instant hot shower, razor point and heated towel rail.

Outside is a parking space for each apartment and there are chairs and tables in the garden area.

Although the valley is very secluded and offers the opportunity to ‘get away from it all’, Kendal can be reached by car in only 10 minutes. this is our nearest shopping centre and is a thriving market town steeped in history.

The valley itself is very peaceful and offers spectacular scenery - hill walking on Banninsdale and potter Fell, and no holiday would be complete without the gentle walk to the valley top (Sadgill). For the more energetic, a walk over the top brings you to Haweswater, to the famous submerged village of Mardale which could be seen by visitors during the droughts of 1984 and 1995.
