Shepherds Huts at The Ashes offers luxurious glamping accommodation on the edge of the quaint village of New Hutton. Our adult only site is surrounded by glorious Cumbrian countryside and close to Kendal.

We offer magical glamping accommodation in our 2 shepherd huts. Our huts, The Herdwick and The Swaledale, have been beautifully crafted and designed to offer fabulous accommodation. Each hut sleeps 2 adults and provides everything you need for an unforgettable holiday in a stunning setting.

The glamping hut has been designed with your comfort in mind, with each containing a sleeping area, bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen. Appliances include a kettle and toaster, sink, double hob, microwave and fridge with small freezer compartment and utensils, cutlery and crockery. You can dine at the dining table or enjoy some al fresco dining on the outside decking where there is a bistro table and chairs. The outdoor chiminea will keep you warm on a summer’s evening and we also provide a gas BBQ.

Inside the huts, there is a comfy sofa that extends into a standard double bed. Please note, duvets, sheets and pillows are not provided. The lovely en suite bathroom has a toilet, washing basin and shower. Towels are not provided.

Outside there is a private shed for storage, perfect for store bikes or buddy boots after a day walking around the wonderful countryside.

The local area has so much natural beauty to see, a true paradise for nature lovers. You can wander around The Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales or visit the charming old villages and towns. You can take a trip to Lake Windermere and beyond to Rydal, Grasmere & Thirlmere, through spectacular scenery and outstanding mountain passes. Ambleside, Hawkshead and Keswick also offer breathtaking natural landscapes to see.

The whole area boasts a fantastic variety of pubs and restaurants. There is also a 24-hour supermarket within easy reach. In nearby Kendal you can stroll around the independent speciality shops and enjoy the traditional market & regular farmer’s market which offers brilliant local produce.
