Long Byres Holiday Cottages in Talkin Head offers wonderful self catering accommodation, set in glorious Cumbrian countryside. Our 6 cosy cottages near Brampton are nestled in a peaceful and idyllic farm setting, great for families, couples or groups looking for somewhere special to stay.

We are a paradise for nature lovers, surrounded by unspoilt countryside and offering stunning views of the North Pennines and towards the Lake District. While staying with us you can enjoy a truly authentic rural getaway; experience the sites and sounds of our flock and native sheep and herd of endangered Exmoor ponies. Children are welcome to come and meet all the animal residents in the yard.

Heather Cottage - Sleeps 4 - 6: This charming cottage is one of our two largest properties, offering fabulous views across Talkin Head Farm and the surrounding countryside. A spacious open plan kitchen/dining/living room opens out onto a wooden balcony. Bedrooms consist of a downstairs master en suite room and 2 upstairs family rooms with bunk beds built into the eaves. Outside there is use of a shared garden.

Hawthorn Cottage - Sleeps 4 -6: Along with Heather cottage, this is one of our two largest cottages. Bedrooms consist of a downstairs master en suite room and two upstairs family rooms with bunk beds built into the eaves. A large open plan kitchen/dining/living room opens onto a stone patio in the shared garden.

Bracken Cottage - Sleep 2 – 4: Our delightful cottage is based in the centre of Long Byres and boasts outstanding country views across the garden and countryside. Bedrooms consist of a double and twin room. Both rooms share a bathroom. Upstairs there is a comfy open plan kitchen/diner/living room.

Bramble Cottage - Sleeps 2 – 4: This superb cottage enjoys fantastic views across the garden and countryside. Downstairs there is a double and twin room which share a family bathroom. Upstairs there is a comfy open plan kitchen/diner/living room.

Ash Cottage - Sleeps 2: Our brilliant cottage is great for a romantic getaway or a single. Unwind in the comfy kitchen/living area and savour the breathtaking views across the hills. A double room and bathroom are also available.

Alder Cottage - Sleeps 2: This cosy cottage is a great place to escape from the pressures of modern life. Inside there is a well-equipped kitchen/living area, bedroom and bathroom.

We are close to an array of wonderful attractions, perfect for the whole family. Enjoy strolling around the scenic Lake District or the ancient woodland at Talkin Tarn Country Park. Children will love visiting The Talkin Adventures Activity Centre which is just 2 miles away from us, home to archery, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding. Visit the majestic Lowther Castle, an 18th Century gothic castle with amazing grounds set over 130 acres. Further attractions to visit include:
