Monks Retreat Holiday Cottages

Miller's Dale, Buxton, Derbyshire
Sleeps: 1 to 12

Details

Monks Retreat Holiday Cottages are a trio of well appointed holiday homes located in Millers Dale, a beautiful village in the heart of Derbyshire. Our holiday homes are just a short drive from Buxton and are a great base for those who want to explore the Peak District National Park.

Monks Memories sleeps 2. It is single storey having a double bedroom with en suite bathroom with bath and shower over.

Friar's Folly sleeps 4 and is the middle cottage of the three.

Abbots Abode sleeps 4 + 2 children and is the largest of the Monks Retreat cottages.

The cottages and gardens are equipped with barbeques and garden furniture and face south, getting the best of the sunshine all day long. Each of the cottages is individual in character and maintains its own privacy but together they make an ideal base for a larger party or group of families and the dining area in Abbots Abode is large enough for the whole of such a group to relax over a meal together. Each cottage has the use of a separate fully - equipped laundry. Cots, high chairs and stair gates can be supplied to ensure young children can enjoy their stay in comfort and safety. All cottages have central heating.

All the holiday cottages are situated where Monksdale joins Millers Dale in the heart of the limestone area of the Peak District - an area noted for its beautiful dales and limestone uplands which give endless scope for exploring on foot, by bicycle or car.

Monksdale is a national nature reserve particularly noted for its wildflowers and rugged scenery. Millers Dale offers delightful walks along the River Wye or on the bed of the former Midland Railway track where a good deal of industrial archaeology lends particular interest to your exploration. You could spend endless happy hours on foot without having to use the car at all. Further afield you will find the stunning Lathkill Dale and the Castleton area noted for its caves with stalactite formations and a Norman castle. There are many interesting local towns and villages to visit. Tideswell is nearby with its church, dubbed the Cathedral of the Peak, as well as a range of shops, sports facilities and the tradition of well dressing which it shares with many other peak district villages. Eyam, the famous plague village, is nearby and it is only a short drive to the market towns of Buxton and Bakewell.
