Hopton Hall Cottages offers fantastic self catering accommodation in Wirksworth. Our luxury cottages near Matlock in Derbyshire are ideal for family breaks or university reunions.

The cottages are set in the Derbyshire Dales on the edge of the Peak District National Park, sitting in 30 acres of secure grounds. They sleep between 4 – 14 people and can be combined to sleep up to 40 people. We are ideal for a special break in a beautiful part of the country.

The cottages share the use of an indoor heated pool, children’s playground with swings, slide and climbing frame and a paddock with football pitch, volleyball nets, picnic tables and BBQ facilities. Some of the cottages have private gardens for BBQs/outdoor dining and, by arrangement, all are invited to enjoy the Hall grounds with its lake and historic walled Summer Rose Gardens. The White Peak Astronomical Observing Group is located within the grounds of the Hall.

All the cottages are tastefully furnished and come with a range of facilities to suit all your needs. You can unwind in the cosy living areas which have a toasty wood burner and TV, whilst the kitchens come with a range of appliances for home cooking. Enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep in the bedroom after a busy day sightseeing. The cottages also come with modern bathrooms.

The family friendly Miners Arms is 400 yards away with other superb pubs and restaurants within 3 miles. Excellent walking country, horse riding, clay shooting, cycle hire and golf are available, with Carsington Water providing facilities for sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and fishing.

The holiday cottages and Hall are conveniently situated for some of the most magnificent stately homes in the United Kingdom. Within 20 minutes drive is Chatsworth House, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. At Chatsworth, there are marvelous walks, a fantastic children's play area for both teenagers and toddlers, and breathtaking formal gardens. Also within 20 minutes drive are Haddon Hall, Sudbury Hall and Hardwick Hall, each of which are completely different in character and with their own equally impressive grounds and gardens.

For the more adventurous, within 1/2 hour's drive of the self catering accommodation, there is Alton Towers with its adrenalin-releasing rides of Nemesis and Oblivion, and many other spectacular rides. If you fancy something a little quieter, the site also has some wonderful gardens.
