Ocean Backpackers is an award-winning hostel, located in Ilfracombe in North Devon. We are close to the picturesque fishing harbour and are perfect for walkers, surfers, cyclists and divers as well as families, schools and activity groups.

We welcome groups of all sizes and any age of traveller that enjoys the buzz of staying at a backpackers and has a love of the great outdoors! Bedrooms include:

2 x 5 bed dorms en suite and one x 8 bed with a shared shower (all dorm beds have USB ports, reading lamps and privacy screens).

Two doubles one en-suite both with sea views.

Three family rooms that each sleep 4 and one en suite.

Two family rooms that each sleep 5 both en suite.

One single room.

All the bedrooms come with bedding.

We also have a communal area with seating up to 24, plus built in power sockets and USB charges. A top floor apartment can be rent as a self-contained flat and include a private kitchen. A large communal kitchen seats 6/8 and there is a communal lounge and dining area to unwind in that seats 24.

Facilities include free tea and coffee, smart TV, boot/coat dying room and a range of games and books. Outside there is a seating area to unwind in.

Ilfracombe is the start of the Route 27 Coast-to-coast ride to Plymouth and the South West Coast Path provides wonderful walks with stunning scenery that take your breath away! We often have Surfers who lodge with us due to being just a short drive away from the sandy surf beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands. We are also just a short walk away from the privately owned Tunnels Beaches which is steeped in Victorian history.
