Fosfelle Country Cottages offers self catering accommodation on the outskirts of the charming village of Hartland. We are based near Bideford within the Hartland Heritage Coast and are located within beautiful grounds featuring a wildlife pond and two fishing lakes, our accommodation offers the perfect country escape in a peaceful rural setting. Guests can choose from a cosy cottage, two well-equipped apartments, or enjoy a unique glamping experience in one of our two converted buses. Whether you're looking for a traditional stay or something a little different, our variety of accommodation options provide a relaxing base surrounded by nature, ideal for fishing enthusiasts, wildlife lovers and those seeking a countryside holiday.

Our cottage and apartments are part of a beautifully converted stone barn, set around a courtyard. Each property is dog-friendly and offers a cosy, well-equipped base for your stay. Secure bike parking is available by prior arrangement, making it ideal for cyclists exploring the area. Guests have shared access to our hot tub, with a booking system in place to ensure privacy and relaxation for all. Every cottage includes a kettle, toaster, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine, along with provided bed linen, towels, washing-up facilities and a small welcome pack to help you settle in on arrival.

Quince

Quince is a comfortable two-bedroom ground floor apartment, ideal for up to three guests, with one double and one single bedroom. It features an enclosed outdoor seating area, perfect for relaxing in a private setting. The layout includes a lounge and dining area leading into a kitchenette, with the shower room conveniently accessed from the kitchen space. As the most accessible of our cottages, Quince offers a practical and welcoming stay for guests seeking easy, ground-level accommodation in a peaceful location.

Bramble

Bramble is a cosy first-floor apartment located next to Fosfelle House Reception, offering comfortable accommodation with picturesque views. Accessed via external stone steps that provide a perfect vantage point for stunning sunsets, the apartment features a double bedroom, a smaller second bedroom with bunk beds, a shower room and a compact kitchenette with a dining area. Guests can also enjoy a private, enclosed outdoor seating area, ideal for relaxing in the peaceful surroundings.

Rowan

Rowan is a spacious three-bedroom, two-storey cottage that comfortably sleeps six guests. The layout includes an en-suite double bedroom, a second double bedroom and a twin bedroom, which share a separate shower room. On the ground floor, guests will find a comfortable seating area with a sofa bed, a well-equipped kitchen featuring a dishwasher and a convenient W/C. Outside, there is an enclosed seating area, providing a private space to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Bertram’s Hotel

Bertram’s Hotel is a unique and quirky holiday stay set inside a converted red double-decker bus, sleeping 4 to 5 guests. Inspired by Agatha Christie, this themed accommodation is a favourite with both children and adults. The lower level features a shower room and a seating area with two single beds, while the upper deck includes a cosy lounge space, a kitchenette and a double bed area. Located near the bottom of the paddock, Bertram has its own fenced outdoor seating area where guests can relax and enjoy visits from the resident alpacas and miniature donkeys as they peacefully graze nearby.

Joseph Multi-Colour Dream Coach

Joseph is a vibrant and colourful converted single-decker coach that sleeps two, offering a fun and romantic glamping experience. Thoughtfully designed with a cosy seating area, kitchen and shower room, it provides all the essentials for a comfortable stay. Positioned at the top end of the paddock, Joseph overlooks the site and enjoys lovely views of the surrounding glamping and camping areas. Guests have their own private outdoor seating space and are often visited by the friendly resident donkeys, Costello and Flatley, as well as alpacas Horizon, Indiana and Oklahoma, adding a charming touch to this glamping option.

Onsite Facilities

Our site offers a range of simple yet enjoyable facilities designed to enhance your stay. Guests staying in our cottages and glamping accommodations have complimentary access to a shared hot tub, which can be booked in advance to ensure privacy. For those looking to explore the area on two wheels, we have a limited number of electric-assisted bicycles available to hire at £30 per day, with a returnable deposit. Our reception area features a wide selection of games and DVDs, including pool and air hockey, all available for guests to enjoy. We also have two recently restored fishing ponds, home to a variety of coarse fish, offering a peaceful spot for a relaxing day by the water.

Visiting the Area

Fosfelle is conveniently located just a 10-minute walk from the centre of the village, where you'll find three dog-friendly pubs serving great food, a general store, post office, British Legion and a charming coffee shop offering delicious meals and snacks. Just beyond the village lies Hartland Quay, a stunning coastal spot perfect for watching the sunset over the ocean while enjoying a drink or a bite to eat, making it an ideal addition to your stay in this picturesque part of North Devon. The area has lots of scenic walking and cycling routes, whilst the bustling towns of Bude and Bideford are around a 20-minute drive from us. Attractions to visit include:
