The Duke of York
Details
Located in the heart of Devon, The Duke of York is a traditional village inn dating back to the 15th century. Built of cob and stone with a thatched roof, it stands out among the cottages of Iddesleigh, nestled between Dartmoor and Exmoor. The village sits high on a hill overlooking the lovely Okement Valley, offering splendid views of Dartmoor's high Tors to the south.
We offer two double en-suite bedrooms and one smaller double/single en-suite bedroom. Adjacent to this room is a large room with a single and double bed, ideal as a family unit. A 'put up' bed and cot are available upon request. These rooms are perfect for shooting and fishing parties. Dogs are welcome at the Duke with a £5.00 surcharge per dog.
Our restaurant, popular with locals and visitors alike, caters to family parties and intimate dining experiences. All our produce is locally sourced. Mid Devon is renowned for its 'Ruby Red' beef and our vegetables come from a nearby organic grower. The Duke is famous for its Steak & Kidney puddings, freshly cooked and served within about 30 minutes. You will certainly feel well-fed after one of these delights!
This part of Devon is ideal for shooting, fishing, golf, cycling, rambling and walking. The nationally renowned coarse fishery, Stafford Moor, is only 2 miles away. The area is also rich in ancient monuments, attracting history and archaeology enthusiasts. Additionally, the dramatic coastlines of Devon and Cornwall draw visitors from around the world.
