Tucked away in its own secluded valley in the heart of the beautiful Devon countryside, Middle Coombe Farm is a Grade II listed estate surrounded by over 400 acres of private grounds and woodland. This farm captures the true spirit of the West Country, offering an atmosphere rich in character, warmth and tranquillity. The estate features two main properties – the historic farmhouse and Allensdown Barn – providing comfortable accommodation for up to 18 guests, with space for two additional people if needed. Both buildings are fully equipped and offer generous living and entertaining areas, making them ideal for gatherings of family and friends. The extensive gardens and grounds create the perfect setting for outdoor relaxation and exploration, while facilities such as a swimming pool, games room and hot tub ensure there’s something for everyone to enjoy throughout their stay.

The Farmhouse

The Farmhouse comfortably sleeps up to 15 guests and is perfect for family gatherings or groups of friends. It features a spacious kitchen-diner with a large table seating everyone together and a modern range ideal for cooking for large parties. The historic drawing room, with its Jacobean wood panelling, oak-framed window overlooking the fortified garden and roaring open fire, offers a cosy space to relax with comfortable sofas and a walk-in wine store. The library serves as both a music and playroom, complete with a piano, TV, DVDs, WiFi and a wide selection of children’s toys and games. There are seven beautifully decorated bedrooms, three with en-suites and a family bathroom, all featuring period charm and antique furnishings. Twin beds can be converted into doubles and extra beds are available in two rooms, ensuring flexibility and comfort for every guest.

Allensdown Barn

Allensdown Barn, recently restored and located beside The Farmhouse, offers comfortable accommodation for up to seven guests. Fully equipped and tastefully furnished, it features a spacious kitchen, two bathrooms and a cosy living room and play area with a television. Upstairs are two large bedrooms, each with a double and single bed, sharing a generous family bathroom, while downstairs there is a smaller double room with its own en-suite shower and toilet, making the barn an ideal space for families or groups seeking comfort and flexibility.

Grounds & Facilities

With hundreds of acres of farmland and woodland to explore, adventure is never far away at Middle Coombe Farm. You can wander through the gardens admiring the flowers, relax with a book in the sheltered front garden, or follow peaceful footpaths where you might spot deer at dawn or dusk. From May to September, the solar-heated outdoor swimming pool is open, its clear water glistening in the sun, while the large eco hot tub, seating up to eight, is available year-round. Both are set within a private, hedged garden with a changing house and outdoor gas showers. The sunken pool garden provides a tranquil retreat on warm days and in cooler months, there’s nothing better than stepping straight into the bubbling warmth of the hot tub. The Cider Barn offers a flexible indoor space that can serve as a games room or party venue, featuring a slate floor that stays cool in summer and warm in winter, along with a pool table, table tennis and table football. Outside, guests can enjoy a trapeze, willow dome, trampoline and forest trails with swings, all used at their own risk under supervision. The courtyard is perfect for alfresco dining, with large wooden tables for breakfast, barbecues and late-night gatherings beneath the stars, an ideal spot to toast marshmallows and share stories around the glowing fire.
