Stowford Lodge Cottages offer self catering accommodation situated in Great Torrington in the heart of rural Devon's Tarka-the-Otter country. We are the perfect place to escape to from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

The cottages offer 6 acres of private parkland comprising of an orchard with a safe and spacious children’s play area with two trampolines, swings and a climbing frame. There’s also a level one acre field with a football goal and rugby posts which is also ideal for kite flying and cricket. There is a wooded walk amongst numerous young trees running alongside our two rescue ponies and sheep field, a hen enclosure and an indoor heated swimming pool. (The swimming pool is open all year).

There are four cottages: Warren Cottage sleeps up to six persons; Halcyon, Tarquol and Old Nog sleep four each – all can sleep an extra little one in an additional cot if required ( max. age 24 months.) Please ask for further details with your booking.

Each holiday cottage has a TV, DVD player, electric cooker, microwave and refrigerator. The living rooms and bedrooms in the self catering cottages are fully carpeted The bathrooms are fully equipped with electric showers over the baths. Barbecues are available for the use of visitors on request. There is free Wi-Fi broadband access.

Tarka's Holt Log Cabin: Tarka's Holt is a beautiful single storey, a newly built log cabin that sleeps 5/6. The log cabin is situated within the gardens of Stowford Lodge. Its verandah overlooks the children's play area and it has magnificent views across the stunning North Devon countryside. The dramatic sunsets seen from here can be breathtaking. Tarka's Holt is a three-bedroomed, centrally heated, double-glazed log cabin finished to the highest standard. There is oak flooring throughout with the exception of the kitchen, bathroom and en suite shower room which have tiled flooring. Unfortunately Tarka's Holt is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Great Torrington town square and the newly refurbished Pannier Market as featured in the drama series "Down to Earth" on BBC One is only 3 miles away. Home to Dartington Crystal and RHS Gardens Rosemoor and the newly opened 1646 Civil War Centre.

Tarka Country is on our doorstep, Weare Giffard being the birthplace of Tarka the Otter and offering access to the Tarka Cycle Trail; bikes are available to hire locally. Westward Ho!, Instow, Clovelly, Bucks Mills offering safe beaches are no more than a short car journey away. Ideal base for sea trips to Lundy Island from Bideford or Ilfracombe. Dartmoor and Exmoor are also within easy reach.
