Farwood Barton Holiday Cottages offer self catering accommodation situated just outside of Colyton in Devon. Our three barn conversions are located in an old Victorian courtyard and are an excellent base for those wishing to explore the area.

The Wheel House:

This thoughtfully converted, spacious one level cottage has a vista of open farm land from every room. Sleeping up to 8 people plus a cot, the cottage has three bedrooms. One is a king size bedroom with a luxurious pocket sprung bed and a sofa. It has a shower en suite. The second bedroom has a pocket sprung double bed and a shower en suite. The third bedroom is a twin and there is a family bathroom off the hallway. Two more can snuggle on a sofa bed in a curtained off area of the spacious lounge. The Wheel House has a spacious, open plan, well equipped kitchen/dining/lounge area, including an electric oven and hob, microwave oven, kettle, fridge with freezer department, toaster, dishwasher and a washer/dryer. The Lounge has a log burner for cosy nights on Autumn/Winter breaks with leather sofas sitting up to 9. There is also a 34”TV and separate DVD player, radio/CD player and a selection of DVD’s, books and games for your use. All rooms feature Geothermal underfloor heating. There are just a few steps into the garden area, where The Wheel House has its own patio. It has its own barbecue and garden furniture. The cottage has ample parking. The dining table sits up to 8 people, but, when the two cottages are rented together with family or friends we will change the table for the banqueting table which will sit up to 14 people easily. In the lounge is where you find ‘the turbine', which is covered with safety glass and was last used 70 years ago to drive milling and other old machinery.

The Leat House:

This holiday cottage looks out over miles of rolling countryside. The Leat House has been converted using the original beams with vaulted ceilings and brick features giving a glimpse of history along with contemporary styling. It is spacious, sleeping up to 4 + 1 plus a cot in its two en suite bedrooms. The first has a pocket sprung super king bed which can be made into a twin and a sofa bed. The en suite family bathroom has a shower over the bath. The other bedroom has a pocket sprung king size bed and the en suite is a shower. The Leat House has a spacious, open plan, well equipped kitchen/dining/lounge area, including an electric oven and hob, microwave oven, kettle, fridge with freezer department, toaster, dishwasher and a washer/dryer. The Lounge has a log burner for cosy nights on Autumn/Winter breaks with leather sofas sitting up to 7. There is also a 32”TV and separate DVD player, radio/CD player and a selection of DVD’s, books and games for your use. All rooms feature Geothermal underfloor heating.

The Apple Loft:

The holiday cottage includes a king size bedroom and bathroom. A comfortable sofa bed in the Lounge and a cot allow sleeping for 4 people plus a cot. The open kitchen/dining/lounge area includes a sofa, sofa bed, dining table seating up to 4, TV/DVD player, radio with CD player, a supply of books and DVD’s and games and a log burner for cosy Autumn/Winter breaks. The well equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, electric oven with hob, fridge with a freezer department, microwave oven, toaster, kettle and wine rack. The cottage also includes a washer/dryer. All rooms have geothermal under floor heating.

There is a tennis court on site for all the budding stars of Wimbledon. For those youngsters (of all ages!) with too much energy at the end of the day, or if the weather is wet, we have the Games Barn. Inside there is a huge range of games and entertainments, including table football, table tennis, snooker/billiards, darts and even a skittle alley!

Farwood Barton Holiday cottages are ideally placed between coast and countryside, three miles from the picturesque town of Colyton with its quiet winding streets and tramway running to the coast at Seaton through the bird rich Axe Marshes. A 10 minute journey into the Blackdown Hills takes you to Honiton, famous for its lace making, where there is a friendly market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. To the south lies the fossil rich Jurassic coast, a World Heritage Site. Branscombe has steep sided valleys and a long beach, while Beer offers a sheltered harbour, fishing trips which can be arranged from the beach and the Beer Quarry caves with an area of 50 football pitches! Drifting west, there is the regency town of Sidmouth with its imposing sea front, high red cliffs, safe beaches and the pretty Connaught Gardens. Then Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth with the longest sandiest beach on this part of the Jurassic coast line. To the East lies Lyme Regis with the famous Cobb Harbour and then Charmouth, famous for its fossil beach.
