Karrageen Caravan & Camping Park

Kingsbridge, Devon

Details

Karrageen Caravan and Camping Park is situated in a picturesque valley, surrounded by protected National Trust coastline in the southern tip of Devon. Just a mile away lies the charming fishing village of Hope Cove, renowned for its sandy beaches and tidal pools. A short drive of four miles leads to Salcombe, a famed sailing destination celebrated for its stunning estuary, often hailed as England's most beautiful.

For those seeking peace and tranquility, Karrageen offers an ideal camping experience. While devoid of a club, bar, or children’s playground, the park features a well-stocked shop offering freshly baked baguettes and croissants daily, alongside ample space for children to play safely.

Accommodating touring caravans, motorhomes, and tents of all sizes, Karrageen recommends booking ahead, especially during school holidays, due to limited capacity as a family-run establishment committed to ensuring a pleasant stay. Many guests return annually, drawn by the park's welcoming atmosphere.

The campsite spans two fields, totaling 70 pitches, including 20 designated for touring caravans. In August, additional pitches are available on the Top Field, offering panoramic sea views, albeit farther from main facilities.

The main field, spanning 5 acres, is terraced and tree-lined, providing level pitches with privacy. Hook-ups are available, and fresh spring water points are conveniently located. Pitches are spacious, allowing children ample room to play safely amidst scenic views of the valley or sea.

Adjacent is a smaller, gently sloping field with five pitches for caravans, motorhomes and tents, all equipped with hook-ups and water points. The field also hosts luxury static caravans available for hire.

Facilities offer first-class amenities, including eco-friendly solar heating panels. The toilet block, located in the caravan field, features separate facilities for men and women, along with a disabled/family shower room and private unisex shower room. Luxury toiletries are provided in each shower cubicle.

A utility room offers three sinks for dishwashing, washing machines, a tumble dryer, chest freezers, a larder fridge, microwave, payphone, USB charging point and a small library exchange. Reception houses a licensed shop selling toiletries, groceries, local produce, chilled beverages and fresh baked goods, including croissants and baguettes.

Karrageen’s water supply is sourced from a pure mineral spring, UV-filtered for safety. A minimal charge of 20p for showers and dishwashing in hot water applies for using the water due to its non-pressurized system, ensuring efficient service without long queues for showers.
