Historic Tiverton Castle was originally built in 1106, once home of the early Norman Earls of Devon and Princess Katherine of York. It was captured in the English Civil War by Fairfax and was partially dismantled, but later rebuilt. It is now a peaceful private house standing in beautiful gardens set amongst romantic ruins above the River Exe. It is open to the public two afternoons a week from Easter Sunday - end October.

Lower East Court sleeps four in a very spacious, elegant property on the first floor in the Victorian wing.

Upper South Court sleeps four in a very pretty apartment on the second floor, with wonderful views of the Church next door and the surrounding hills.

Castle Lodge sleeps four - the prettiest cottage in Tiverton, with charming Gothic windows. It was built in the 1840s and is in front of the Castle's side entrance.

Castle Barton sleeps six in three en suite bedrooms - it is a beautiful house and has a log fire. Built-in the 1840's as a farmhouse it abuts the Castle's gatehouse and has a 15th Century arrow slit window in the kitchen.

Tiverton Castle and St Peter's Church are in the old medieval centre of Tiverton, an old market town that became a centre for the woollen industry. Shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. There is interesting architecture - three medieval almshouses, wonderful St. Peter's and St.George's Churches, a museum, horse drawn canal barge, Knightshayes Court (NT) with a beautiful garden. There are many local attractions, sporting facilities and lovely village pubs to visit.
