Woodyhyde Campsite

Corfe Castle, Wareham, Dorset

Details

Woodyhyde Campsite is a relaxed, family-run site in Dorset, located near Corfe Castle and set within 15 acres of open countryside on the Isle of Purbeck. Surrounded by beautiful landscapes, it offers a peaceful setting with plenty of space to unwind. In addition to traditional camping, the site also provides glamping options such as shepherd’s huts and yurts, perfect for those who want to enjoy the outdoors without bringing their own equipment.

The campsite features three large fields with 160 spacious, unmarked pitches, allowing guests the freedom to choose their own spot on arrival. Suitable for tents, campervans and motorhomes, the site offers a mix of grass and hardstanding pitches, with electric hook-ups available and dog-friendly camping in two of the fields. The generous layout ensures the site never feels overcrowded, even in peak season, and guests can often spot wildlife such as deer, pheasants and a variety of birds across the grounds.

One of the fields runs alongside a heritage steam railway connecting Corfe Castle and Swanage, adding a unique and memorable feature to the camping experience. Woodyhyde also offers around 100 electric hook-up points, including 20 hardstanding pitches designed for campervans and motorhomes, while still maintaining its laid-back and spacious atmosphere that keeps visitors returning year after year.

Modern facilities include a well-maintained amenities block with 18 showers, separate male and female areas, and accessible shower and toilet facilities. There is also a large, well-stocked on-site shop and off-licence offering fresh food, camping essentials, gas, and everyday items, making it easy for guests to settle in and enjoy their stay without needing to travel far.

Woodyhyde’s glamping provides a comfortable and hassle-free way to enjoy the outdoors, with a choice of cosy shepherd’s huts and spacious yurts set in a peaceful area. Each unit is fully furnished and ready on arrival, with proper beds, lighting and electricity, making it ideal for those who want a camping experience without bringing their own equipment. The shepherd’s huts offer a more private, home-from-home feel with added features such as a kitchenette and, in some cases, an ensuite toilet, making them perfect for couples or small families. The yurts, located in a private paddock, offer a larger space sleeping up to four people, making them well suited to families or small groups. All accommodation blends the charm of outdoor living with practical comforts, allowing guests to relax and explore the surrounding Dorset countryside with ease.
