Galloway Lodges is a family-run staycation business offering 4-star self-catering holiday lodges in the hamlet of Barend, Sandyhills, on the picturesque Colvend Coast of the Solway Firth. Our rural, Scandinavian-style lodges are ideally situated near pristine sandy beaches, forests, Colvend Golf Club and a rugged coastline, providing a perfect base for a wide range of activities for the whole family. We offer three, 4-star Scandinavian-style self-catering lodges in Dumfries and Galloway at Barend: Red Kite Lodge, Kestrel Lodge and Owl Lodge.

Red Kite Lodge - Sleeps 4

The ground floor features a double bedroom with ample storage and a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower. The open-plan kitchen and dining area includes a well-equipped kitchen, a round dining table, a leather sofa, TV, DVD player, Xbox and Bose CD radio. Doors lead to a full-width deck with patio furniture. Upstairs, the lounge has patio doors opening onto an upper deck and includes a leather sofa, TV with Amazon Prime, Blue-ray DVD player and a bookcase with games. The adjacent super king bedroom can be set up as twin beds or a super king divan and includes a wardrobe and bedside units.

Kestrel Lodge - Sleeps 6

Kestrel Lodge offers level access to a super king bedroom with a wardrobe, oak furniture and blackout blinds. The adjacent bathroom features a heated towel rail, a bath with a drencher shower and a wash-hand basin. The lounge includes a curved leather sofa, TV, DVD player, and Bose radio cassette. The dining area has a large table and dresser units. The well-equipped kitchen includes a Bosch gas stove, electric fan oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and DeLonghi coffee machine. Patio doors open onto a full-width deck with rattan chairs. Upstairs, a twin bedroom with a chest of drawers leads to an upper deck. There’s also a lounge area with a sofa, TV, DVD player, Xbox and a bookcase with games. The king-size bedroom, accessed through the twin room, features oak furniture and blackout blinds.

Owl Lodge - Sleeps 6

Owl Lodge features level access into an entrance hall. To the right is a downstairs double bedroom with a wardrobe, bedside units, and a chest of drawers. Opposite, the bathroom includes a bath with an electric shower, a toilet and a wash-hand basin. The hallway leads to a spacious lounge with two leather sofas, a TV, DVD player, and patio doors that open onto a deck with countryside views. The dining area has a table for six and a fully equipped kitchen with all essentials, including a gas stove, electric oven, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Upstairs, a twin bedroom includes a lounge area with a sofa, TV and PS3 games console, along with access to the upper deck. From the twin room, you enter another double bedroom with a wardrobe, bedside units and an en-suite toilet with a wash basin.
