Tumbling Banks has been thoughtfully converted from a former grain store within a traditional steading into comfortable cottage accommodation. Sleeping up to four people, the property offers the added luxury of access to a heated outdoor swimming pool during the summer months (end of May until early September) and a tennis court is also available by prior arrangement with the owners.

The cottage is double glazed throughout and well equipped for a relaxing stay. It accommodates up to four adults, with sleeping space for two on the ground floor and a further two in an externally accessed loft room. A large set of French doors opens onto a patio area with views across open fields and a small garden, creating a peaceful spot to sit, enjoy a barbecue and listen to birdsong.

Downstairs, guests will find an open-plan living area with kitchen facilities, dining table, fridge, dishwasher and microwave, along with comfortable seating and a television with Freeview. The bathroom includes a bath with shower over and heated towel rails and there is a bedroom on this level sleeping two people. Upstairs, the loft bedroom also sleeps two and includes a toilet and Velux windows that frame lovely countryside views. Access to the loft is via a well-lit external staircase, and there is limited headroom due to the sloping roof.

The cottage is heated by electric heaters and benefits from free high-speed Wi-Fi. Bed linen is provided, though guests are asked to bring their own towels. Dogs are welcome and can be exercised in fields where there are no sheep or cattle. Parking is convenient, and the surrounding area offers plenty to explore, including nearby Rockcliffe Beach and extensive coastal walks. One of the Seven Stanes mountain bike trail starts is close by at Colvend. Two horses, Joey and Bear, live on the farm, and coarse fishing for perch and pike can be arranged on the farm’s waters. The local shop in Colvend is just a mile away, while Kippford and other nearby villages offer a selection of good restaurants and bars.

Dalbeattie is a great base for exploring the natural beauty of Dumfries and Galloway, with Dalbeattie Forest right on the doorstep, offering scenic walking trails. Nearby, the coastal villages of Rockcliffe and Kippford are perfect for seaside strolls, sailing and wildlife spotting, while Sandyhills Beach provides wide sands and family-friendly shores. A short drive inland brings you to Threave Garden and Estate, with its impressive gardens and castle and the food town of Castle Douglas, known for independent shops, cafés and local produce.
