Marthrown of Mabie is situated in the heart of Mabie Forest, Dumfries and Galloway providing a selection of unique and unusual styles of accommodation, catering for groups of any type or size. Marthrown of Mabie features a Tipi, a Yurt ideal for 'Glamping' in southern Scotland, a Bunkhouse, Camping with views over the Lake District and our famous Roundhouse – come and take a look around; you will find simply - something different!

Marthrown Tipi:

For a slightly different experience how about chilling out in a native American style Tipi. In the Tipi there are 4 mattresses. It has a wood burning stove, rugs and 4 bean chairs as well as all the cooking and dining equipment you will need. There is a 2 ring stove in a separate cooking shelter about 15-20 meters away. It also has a BBQ and picnic table and use of the outdoor fire pit. All you need to bring are pillows, sleeping bags and torches! Lighting is from LED battery lights - sorry there is no mains power but it is possible to charge phones,laptops etc down here at the centre. There are 2 dry composting loo's and a hot shower on site about 40 meters from the tipi or there are conventional ones for you to use at the bunkhouse. For family groups it gives children the chance to play freely (the way we used to!) before the days of Play Stations, mobile phones and fashion!

Marthrown Yurts:

Our Mongolian Yurts (or Ger to give it its correct name) have proved very popular with couples, small groups and families interested in 'Glamping' in Mabie Forest in Dumfries and Galloway, southern Scotland. The centrepiece of the Yurts is a very effective wood burning stove which has an oven in which you can rustle up a tasty meal.

Marthrown Bunkhouse:

Marthrown Bunkhouse has a total of 26 bed spaces spread over 4 rooms:

Annan bunkhouse has 8 beds – 4 sets of bunks

Esk bunkhouse has 7 beds – 1 single and 3 sets of bunks

Lower Nith has 6 beds – 3 sets of bunks

Upper Nith has 4 beds – a king size and 3 singles

It has a well equipped kitchen and dining room.

Bottom sheet, pillow and pillowcase are provided. Duvets and bath towels are available to hire.

Nith bunkhouse has a cosy lounge with a wood burning stove for those chilly evenings where you can gather round and chat. There is also a TV, Wi-Fi, DVD/Video player and a selection of films.

The Esk/Annan Veranda has a multi fuel stove which heats radiators in those two bunkhouses as well as being a nice place to sit and natter!To make it easier on Mum and Dad we can provide a cot for families. We also we have a highchair, books, toys and games which you are welcome to use.

Marthrown of Mabie is right in the heart of the forest, away from the hustle and bustle of the world. Although only a few miles from the region's capital town of Dumfries, Marthrown of Mabie is surrounded by forest and this makes the sounds of modern life disappear.

This is a great spot to relax and unwind, with a sauna and hot tub on site. It is also perfect as a base for 7stanes mountain biking and other activities such as road cycling, walking & hiking or nature breaks.

Two lochs and many smaller ponds along with the variety of trees means that an amazing variety of wildlife abounds in Mabie Forest. Red squirrels and woodpeckers come right into the courtyard and many rare species of insect and bird life frequent the area.
