Details

The Old Post Office offers luxurious accommodation in the centre of Lanchester, a charming village in County Durham. We are less than a 20-minute drive to the city of Durham and a fantastic base from which to explore this lovely corner of England.

Our unique bed and breakfast is a Grade II Listed building that was once the post office for this pretty English village. It was built in 1788 and has been beautifully refurbished to offer fabulous accommodation. We have a choice of 3 rooms, all of which have been elegantly decorated and furnished, in keeping with the history of the building:

The Penny Red Room – This includes a four-poster king-size bed with a beautiful view over the courtyard and extensive garden beyond. The en suite has a walk-in double shower.

The Penny Black Room – A twin room that can be made into a super king-size double bed on request. It has a modern and relaxing atmosphere along with beautiful soft furnishings. The en suite has a walk-in double shower and a sitting area.

Two Pence Blue Room – French-inspired, with a nod to the history of the building with its finishing’s and furnishings. This room has a king-size bed along with a day bed and trundle bed beneath. This provides an additional two, full-size single beds if required. Please note these beds will only be made up if you advise when booking that there will be additional guests.
