Laverock Hall Holiday Cottages is the perfect holiday destination if you are looking to take your dog on holiday with you. Situated on a private farm in the beautiful Teesdale countryside, near Barnard Castle in County Durham, our location is perfect for dog lovers. We are situated in the North Pennines AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), a UNESCO Global Geopark and an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest), offering breathtaking scenery and plenty of space for your dogs to roam.

Our cottages and outdoor spaces are designed with dog owners in mind. In addition to the opportunity to get involved with farm life, we offer enclosed gardens with a minimum 4-foot-high wall or fence, a purpose-built 120-foot indoor agility arena for year-round use, a 5-acre stock-fenced dog play field and a 35 square metre deer-fenced play paddock, ensuring every dog has a safe place to run free!

We have two cosy cottages, each accommodating up to 4 people (with a sofa bed for an extra guest if needed), and you’re welcome to bring up to 4 dogs per cottage at no extra charge. Additional dogs are welcome for just £25 per dog per week.

Each cottage features an open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge area, fully equipped with a full-size oven, hob, fridge freezer, microwave and all the essentials. The lounge has a wood-burning stove, perfect for cosy evenings, along with a TV, books and DVDs. The cottages sleep 4 guests in one double and one twin bedroom and a modern bathroom includes both a bath and a separate shower. One of the sofas in the lounge converts into a bed for an extra guest.

Sheep Haven Cottage is a single-storey property with exposed beams and partial disabled access, while Laverock Lodge is a two-storey cottage with a stunning view from the upstairs bedrooms, located in the original hayloft. A handmade wooden stair gate ensures dogs stay downstairs.

For your canine companions, we’ve made it easy to keep them clean and happy. Each cottage has a dedicated dog shower room, perfect for cleaning muddy paws after a long walk, and a grooming table with a professional dog dryer. There are no delicate ornaments or white carpets here – just durable, dog-friendly tiles and rugs throughout. Crates are available on request, and well-behaved dogs can even be left in the dog shower rooms if you want to head out for a while.

Although we can’t provide fixed broadband due to our rural location, each cottage comes with its own 4G mobile Wi-Fi box for your convenience. You’ll also find a washing machine and tumble dryer in an outbuilding, available for use with a small honesty box charge. If your dog is on a BARF diet, we can provide an extra mobile chest freezer on request.

Both cottages can be hired together, we can then accommodate 10 guests.

Our farm is home to around 120 sheep, along with hens, ducks, geese, goats, and horses. You’ll also spot plenty of wildlife, including rabbits, pheasants and even a family of wild Red Kites that have made their home in the nearby woods. With stunning views across both Cumbria and Yorkshire, Laverock is a dog-lover’s paradise, offering a perfect escape in the heart of nature.
