The Middle House is a Grade I Listed building just a short drive from Royal Tunbridge Wells which now offers guest accommodation and fabulous food. We are perfect for a memorable holiday in a beautiful part of East Sussex.

Our building is an outstanding example of fine Elizabethan architecture, with wattle and daub infill which dates to 1575. Original features included uneven floors, wonky walls and four individually styled 4 poster bedrooms nestled within the original building. Our rooms boast either views of the high street or the scenic valley. All rooms include an array of facilities, including:

Providing a range of dishes without compromising on quality, we use only the highest quality ingredients and every dish on our menu is handmade and prepared to order. We also source, where possible. all our meat, poultry and game from local farms and producers. Our bar menu consists of over 40 dishes including traditional classics, fresh salads, vegetarian options and A La Carte meals. Fresh fish and daily specials are displayed around the huge working fire in the bar. We also have an extensive À La Carte Menu served in our panelled restaurant.

The 1000-year-old village of Mayfield lies ten minutes south of the Spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells. Centrally located it has London, Brighton, Eastbourne, Gatwick Airport and Canterbury within one hour. Within the middle of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Mayfield is an ideal point from which to visit castles and battlefields, cathedrals and forests, steam railways and Iron Age forts. Glyndebourne offers music and outdoor events; a day at the races can be found at Plumpton or Lingfield racecourses. There are many great golf courses, including the East Sussex National, nearby fisheries and walks abound.
