Berkeley House, Lewes, East Sussex
Berkeley House is a fine Grade II Listed 1820’s Regency house in the centre of the county town of Lewes. This beautiful building has been refurbished to provide first class accommodation.
We are moments away from the High Street, offering independent shops, cafés, antique emporia, pubs and restaurants. We are just 10 minutes walk from Lewes Station, which provides direct links to Brighton, London and the South Coast. Lewes Castle, Glyndebourne Opera House and Charleston are all nearby, as are many charming villages and seafront towns, within the South Downs National Park. We are on the South Downs Coastal Path and the London to Paris Cycle route.
Our rooms in this Grade II Listed Georgian townhouse have recently been fully upgraded and re-decorated and include excellent en-suite shower facilities, free wifi, flat screen TV with DVD player, a DAB radio with iPod dock and alarm and, of course, tea and coffee making facilities.
Breakfast is served on the ground floor in our new, spacious kitchen/diner. We offer a full menu of cooked and cold breakfast options, including gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian choices. Just let us know in advance if you have any special dietary requirements and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.
We have a sunny courtyard garden and an equally sunny roof terrace with views through the town. You can while away the hours in either spot, having breakfast, catching some sun, or relaxing with the papers.
The Blue Room: Double £100 per night.
This en-suite room is on the second floor at the back of the house. It’s lovely and quiet and has interesting views over some of the higgledy-piggledy rooflines and secret gardens of Lewes. Our divan bed has a comfortable Hypnos mattress and a light, fluffy duvet. We use crisp, cotton linen and our pillows are feather filled, although we can offer synthetic, fiberfill alternatives if you prefer. Extra pillows and blankets are also available.
The Yellow Room: Twin or Double £110 per night.
This en-suite room, also on the second floor, is at the front of the house. Slightly larger than the Blue Room, it looks out onto Albion Street and catches the early morning sunshine. The 3ft twin beds can be joined to make a generous double bed and the en-suite shower is light and spacious. The mattresses are by Hypnos and should guarantee an excellent night’s sleep. We have light, fluffy duvets, crisp cotton linen and feather pillows with fiberfill alternatives if you prefer. Extra pillows and blankets are also available.
The Apartment: £130 per night.
This four-room apartment occupies the lower ground floor and consists of a siting room with flat screen TV, small kitchen with oven/microwave, fridge and two hobs for cooking, a good sized shower room and double bedroom. The apartment also has its own entrance down some steps at the front of the house so you can come and go as you please. The apartment is available on a self-catering basis and we’ll provide some basic ingredients to get you started on your first day’s breakfast or, if you prefer, you can join us upstairs for a cooked breakfast.
We have various parking options available. Please ask when you book.
Children are welcome by arrangement.
